I can't tell if this guy is a perfect fit here or the offenses version of Adam Seward.

Agree with you 100%. Danny has been ridiculously clutch in the playoffs and Super Bowls. Love the guy, true team player. Brady loves him too.

I like the idea of Hunter, but not at the expense of DA.

All depends on the price - they're not keeping DA at 7 million, that's for sure. Equal cost and I'd take DA over Hunter easily. We know Danny "4th-and-3" "SB-TD-&-2pter" Amendola is there when it matters!

No doubt, I think the Pats cut Amendola if he doesn't restructure, no way is he a 7 mill a year WR. But the clutchness cannot be overlooked.

Watching Burkhead play reminds me of Julian.
I guess not many people were high on Julian when he was brought in.

And even if i look at his floor only - ST ace who can make things happen rushing and receiving - sign me up for the signing!

Weird numbers, the straight line speed is really bad. Everything else is good.

Remember that the 40 is without pads.. No. He doesn't have breakaway speed, but are you really looking for that in a North/South runner?

I think Pats offer him 3 to 3.5 a year

That is pretty rich for a guy who has barely played. You would think if he was better they would have put him out there more. It is not like he it a position like QB where you only have 1 guy on the field the whole time. There is rotation and he was perhaps not good enough to crack it.

It should be a 1 year show me deal.

If we sign this guy to get rid of Brandon Bolden then i'm all for it, because he can actually do something on offense.

Lewis makes $1.29M in 2017
White makes $690k this year
Foster makes $540k

Blount made $1.1M in 2016
Bolden made $1.16M in 2016 (as a special-teamer, NOT as an RB)

Develin just got a raise to $1.4M (as a blocking specialist, not as an RB)

I can't remember the last time that the Pats paid an RB more than about $2.2M or so. Maybe Maroney?

RBs have been cheap for awhile and they're getting cheaper.

Bolden shouldn't really even be in the conversation about competition for RB spots anymore than Slater should be in the conversation about WR spots or Ebner should be in the conversation about Safety spots. They're special-teams specialists. If any of them are actually needed for significant snaps at their nominal positional designations, something is very, very wrong.

Bolden is a UFA and may be gone because he wants a larger raise/longer contract as a special-teamer than the Pats are willing to give him. But it won't be because the Pats have signed a better RB.

Burkhead was a core special-teamer for the bengals. He led the Bengals in special teams tackles. He would take Boldens spot + he would actually have a value to the offense. So if we sign him and don't resign Bolden it's because the Pats think Burkhead is better.

I just assumed we would draft a rb. But looking at this roster, I am sort of glad we traded our high picks away because we are loaded and I wouldn't be surprised if not a single rookie gets any significant playing time.

Except that, typically, active ("real") RBs on the Pats roster get very few ST snaps except at returner. If Burkhead is brought in as an RB, he's still unlikely to displace Bolden from ST.

BB is trying to sign all his binkies in one offseason.

I understand your point and I also see we don't have the same view on the role of Burkhead if he gets signed. I think if he's brought in he is an immediate core special teamer and gets a few touches late in blowout games. And if you want to give some guys rest or want to change pace or something like that he is able to get you some yards if he gets the ball. Also if we should end up having a horror year in terms of injuries like 2015, he would be able to be the lead running back for us and we don't have to sign a Steven Jackson-type player off the streets. (That's a ****load of if's in a post.)

EDIT: I still belive we draft a big, bruising running back this year for the lead role.

Do you think he's a replacement for Blount or Bolden?

Bolden: Height: 5-11 Weight: 220
Burkhead: Height: 5-10 Weight: 210
Blount: Height: 6-0 Weight: 250
Not only this but he also was a core special teamer on the Bengals so probably Boldens replacement.

Greater motor and brings his lunch pale every day. What he lacks in elite athleticism, he makes up for by being a gym rat. Very scrappy and deceptively fast. Would be a nice signing.
