Could this bode well for the Pats to bring him back, as less money than he expected.. do we sign 30 year old RB's... if not what is the alternative.

Teams are seeing that you can win with a committee approach. Both SB teams play this way. And none of the guys on the market are transcendent talents anymore. They'll eventually be signed, but it might be a while.

Hes been a beast during the regular season but its somewhat disturbing that he has been a nonfactor in the playoffs both superbowl runs against any team not named the colts.

I think he is back, but it would be nice to have some threat of the run vs teams

With the RB-heavy draft coming up, I think some of the top free-agent RBs might be better waiting until May and signing with teams who didn't pick up RBs in the draft...

Yeah, looks like the RB market is pretty depressed. The fact that even Peterson is unsigned shows that teams aren't really going after RBs. The thought that it may go til the draft is a real possibility...

Part of his is kinda his own fault, teams probably don't trust him to behave. He'll probably end up back here. He's too good not to get a deal somewhere, just money won't be that great.

I agree. We all change and mature but in his NFL career NE is only place hes really behaved himself.

Plus being on the wrong side of 30 is not helping him. If he were 26 or 27 I think I'd be a different market for him.

Others have speculated he started fade in December but I'm not sure I buy it.

I am greatful for what we got out of Blount, but I hope we go in a different direction.

As big as Blount is, he really is not a power back who muscles his way in short yardage.

I would love to see either Oklahoma RB Samaje Perine drafted as a muscle back or even draft Joe Mixon as a complete back.

I think after Pitt he's learned that being happy where you work is generally more important than earning every last dollar in terms of overall happiness.

I don't begrudge players who feel otherwise but I know in my current job (fast food manager) you couldn't pay me enough to go back to flipping burgers.

If Peterson signs with Seattle after his visit. I think the Patriots move to resign Blount fairly quickly.

He's the only player I think we would value over Blount.

That poor playoff stretch didn't help much. He was pretty awful. He should have run all over that small Atlanta defense, especially in the second half when our OLine was playing well and their entire defense was gassed. Though we were trying to make up a lot of points, especially still could have used the run game.

Agreed. It was pretty evident that, to me at least, that after an AMAZING first half of the season, his production dipped a lot. Not all was his fault (Gronk was out, Lewis came back), but it was a noticeable drop off

I don't think that any of the FA RB's including LGB is going to be signed prior to the draft. It makes no sense. Most if not all will still be there. This is a very good RB class. After the draft, teams who didn't get one of the top guys will now start signing their favorite guys from this group to short term deals for $2MM/yr or less

Absolutely. Everyone agrees there was a drop in the second half. I don't know if another year on his calendar will make that any better. But we could still use his services. I really like Blount.
