The lack of news is Jimmy G is deafening

Didn't he insist Cassel would be on the roster opening day 2009? Pats are using him from the sounds of it.

I thought someone posted a quote from BB after franchising Cassel that about how he was looking forward to working with Cassel in training camp.

Appearing on 97.1 in Columbus, Ohio, ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Browns won't be acquiring Jimmy Garopppolo no matter what they offer the Patriots.

Schefter added it's not about the Browns' offer; it simply sounds like the Patriots intend to hold onto their promising backup.

If that is literally true... very shortsighted IMO.

Looking to the future is short sighted?

There's looking to the future and then there's turning down literally anything - like a very high first round pick or perhaps more than that - to keep an unknown as a quarterback, as this quote suggests.

He's not unknown to those who see him every day. Trust those guys, they know more than us.

If they are literally willing to turn down everything theres a reason.

So he is saying the asking price is up to 3 1st rounders now

The team has plenty of needs on both sides of the ball that would be addressed with some great draft picks that could be had if the Browns want to literally offer us anything for JG.

If the Pats pass on that rare opportunity to keep a guy like JG then they're nuts.

Schefter's really going out of his way with this jimmy stuff. They should check to see if he has a pats jersey underneath.

Even if "a guy like JG" can take over a QB for the next 10 seasons relatively soon? If they team thinks that's what he is then they will do everything in their power to have that happen.

If they trade him to the Browns to pick up some replaceable positions then they are failing the franchise. This team is about sustained success not sacrificing the future to win now.

I initially wanted everything we can get for JG, too, the harder we're holding out the more we're learning how valuable JG is to BB.

Unless BB thinks he can get the Browns to pull a Saints for Ricky Williams type deal (the browns giving up their whole draft), he legitimately thinks Jimmy is the future.

I don't get it either. We will see. The browns have a ton of picks to give the pats. I don't know if they would offered number 1 in 2018 but i wouldn't mind number 33 and another second rounder to go with the number 1 in 2018

Well if he's not dealt than i don't see how he's not in their future. I doubt very much they can get something big next year when the QB draft class will be much better.

I can see BB sitting somewhere with a **** eating smirk. He knows that NONE of the prognosticators knows what he's gonna do with Jimmy. They have NO clue. For all we know, he has no intention of trading either Jimmy OR Butler, yet all these jack offs are making definitive comments like they know what BB will do.

Unless Brady has said he'll play until he's 45 so people don't focus on his last year, and his real last year is next year, or the year after.

Looks like you have something in common with BB, you've both made up your minds on Jimmy's value.

I'll side with BB on this one.

His value to me is a complete unknown. I can't judge him after 6 quarters of meaningful football where he played great... that is, great if you had zero expectations for him going in.

But saying no to literally - ANYTHING - the Browns will offer for JG? Absurd. They'll take it even just a first round pick and run in my opinion.

Not a bad point... something I hadn't thought about. Set a longer expectation so he isn't bombarded during his "farewell tour" or some ****. He doesn't care about that... he cares about winning rings.

Judging by the fact that Giselle wanted him to retire after this last Super Bowl... it may be unlikely to think that he will be able to say "sorry sweetie, but no" for 5+ more years.

Schefter's most recent comments make me think there really is no chance we trade him this year. Could be Pats value having him on the roster for at least 1 more year no matter what, for the simple reason that you never know what could happen.
