Pats not trading Garoppolo - Schefter

LOL I like what BB is doing, so we take two first rounders, and if he is any good and Brady starts waking up in the middle of the night having pissed the bed we will have paid them back what we paid them if we put a pill in the offer should they franchise him . haha

Nor should they. If Cleveland is stupid enough to agree to give up 2 firsts, straight up (a/k/a no conditions), including the #12 this year, BB should win "Thief of the year" awards.

You really believe that? I think bill loves jimmy as a player. He's gonna want the best package. Cleveland can go right ahead and draft trubinsky. Let's see who will blink first.

I would have loved to see jimmy in the nfc. With the bears. Instead the bears are interested in glennon lol. What a joke. I expect them to be big spenders and stink up the joint next year.

You really believe that?

Of course. Cleveland would be crazy to just give up 2 firsts straight up. For one thing, 2 firsts is what you get for a QB who's already been tagged with the non-exclusive franchise tag, agreed to a contract with a new team, and then not matched by the original club. Cleveland would be giving that up for a guy who's deal ends after this season.

And that's just one obvious reason why it would be folly for Cleveland.

The demand for two 1sts is encouraging in regards to Jimmy having the goods to be Brady's ultimate replacement as it shows how much BB values him.

Lombardi pointed out how Brady is in uncharted territory by remaining elite going on 40, but the reality is, as much as Brady takes care of himself and wants to keep playing, father time will win eventually, and it may be sooner than any of us hope.

If Brady's game falls off suddenly while Jimmy is lighting it up, it's gonna be frustrating thinking about what could have been.

there's no such thing as a sure thing......it is not a sure thing that brady does not show age next year

If I was a betting man, I would bet that it is far more likely that Brady is elite next year than Garoppolo will be an above average or better starting QB for the next ten years.

Why would Garoppolo sign a long term deal as a backup?
I think he has had enough riding the bench and playing asap is his priority.

True.... but there is value to keep him for another year....given the starter is 40

Manning had his best year ever and simply went off a cliff.....it can happen fast

If something happens to Brady, then jg becomes worth a hell of a lot more than 2 1sts to the pats

And no......brisket is not the answer

What are the odds

There is also no sure thing that Jimmy will actually make it through an entire season or be a great starting QB.

I do agree with the idea about Brady though. But if I were to wager, I would bet that Brady will still be better than Jimmy this coming season.

Maybe......but what will you say when Brady's play goes off the cliff in 2018 while JG becomes the next drew Brees?

Young waited around until he was 30

yeah but after next year his contract is up and he is clearly going to get paid unless something unforeseen happens this year.

So if the Pats do not trade him this off season, they have to be thinking franchise tag. There is a very small chance if the Patriots were offered Clevelands 12th over all pick + another 2nd round they would keep JG unless they think JG is the future QB of the Patriots.

Browns would franchise him as a 1st and trade him in your scenario

You're right, but then it's two years of JG with a rebuilding team. They can't tag him twice, can they? I'm not seeing that quick a turnaround.

Pats want 2 1sts minimum

Where the hell else are the browns going to find a competitive QB?

The market is .... how u say.....a sellers market

Two firsts could be posturing, if Cleveland gave BB 12 and a second this year or next you think he turns it down?

Hue better be careful if he trades for Jimmy and the offense struggles you know Mcdaniels would be tapped.

If pick #12 is actually on the table, I'd love to take it. But, realistically, how many of these reports can you believe ?

Yes, Cleveland could tag JAG twice. It would be much more expensive than it used to be, though:

Non-exclusive: Player receives a one-year tender that is the average of the top five player salaries at his position or 120 percent of his previous season's salary, depending on which value is higher. Under the non-exclusive tag, a player can negotiate with other clubs and receive an offer sheet, which his team can match to retain him. If the original team declines to match the offer sheet, it receives two first-round picks from the player's new team as compensation.

an a player be tagged multiple times? Yes, but it can cost a tremendous amount. If a player is tagged in back-to-back years, he must receive a tender that is 120 percent of his initial tag level. It grows to 144 percent of that second-year number if a team wants to use the tag a third straight year.

NFL franchise tag 2017: Everything you need to know

Cost much wampum!

Jimmy ends up being traded. Pats obviously ask high then will end up settling for a 1st and a 2nd. Please!

What is that really saying though? It's a virtual certainty that Brady will still be considered "elite" next year.
