On second thought, maybe Rodney appeals the suspension to play in the first couple games. Merriman appealed his suspension and played until the Chargers schedule hit an easy stretch.

But, I think its worthy to note that Brandon did start at and play safety for the first time in live game action in the preseason finale, perhaps a tune up of sorts for week 1.

When people were asking why we didn't make the promise to Samuel to not Franchise him earlier in the offseason, I think we now have the answer. With Harrison suddenly gone for four games, the spector of Samuel being gone too loomed larger.
