Whatever.
No one on the Pats "crapped their pants" that day. They were run over by a freight train in the form of what was probably the best Defense ever to play in a Super Bowl that wasn't wearing Steelers' colors. No shame in that loss on any player or any unit of the team. They were outplayed, out-coached and outclassed.
As to who started, the game was a long time ago and I remember that the Pats went up 3--0 after recovering a fumble early, but, after that, I was well into multiple Manhattans.
I looked up the Box Score and, FWIW, Grogan replaced Eason at the five minute mark of the second quarter.
Grogan's line for the game shows four sacks, two picks, one Safety taken and one TD to Irving Fryer when they were down 44-3. Some would say that line is pretty close to "pant crapping" as well.
As I have said multiple times, I'm not putting Eason in Canton or Patriot place. I'm just saying that he wasn't the "worst" "by far" ever to QB the Pats. He won three Playoff Games as starter leading up to that SB. As I said above, Brady is the only other QB in Pats history to win three Playoff games in a single season...of course he did it five times and has five rings, so I'm not comparing Eason and Brady. Just saying that it's hard to call the other guy to pull that off the "worst" QB "by far" in Pats history.
I'm more or less done with this discussion.
