Thanks for the good run Claude ... too bad they screwed up on getting him the proper talent. What a ****show ... bunch of assclowns ... if anyone needed to be fired it was Neely who has been horrendous. Press conference at 11:30 during the Patriots parade .... gutless bunch of phonies. Organization has been going backwards with Neely, bad contracts and bad trades.

This should have happened years ago. His inability to work Seguin into the team should have led to his firing, not to the trading of the player.

I agree with all of the OP…but…Clod had to go too. He was part of the problem. Next head to go on the chopping block will be Sweeney's; then Neely's after some more losing; then I will be hoping that Old Man & Old Woman Jacobs die, and the family sells the team to someone who actually cares.

Edit: I hope that the Clod's firing indicates that the team is willing to be sellers at the trade deadline instead of pie-in-the-sky buyers. SweeNeely should take whatever they can get for Chara, Liles, Krejci, Backes, Spooner, Hayes & Nash, if anything.

Claude Julien should never have to buy a drink in boston for the rest of his life. I'm sorry to see him go. but i agree the team needed a change. now they need to dump cam and Sweeney.

I don't think so; Montreal probably loves all the French-Canadians they now have behind the bench and in the FO, so unless there is a major meltdown between now and season's end, I don't see them making any changes there.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Just read on one of my friend's FB posts that Montreal has indeed fired Therrien and hired Julien…Wow!

what about now? This would have been like if BB was fired by the Jets and then got hired by the Pats

I feel blindsided. Claude will have to buy his own drinks while he's coaching the Canadians. makes me throw up my lunch just thinking about it.

well when you throw away an excellent coach because you don't like his manager style, don't be surprised when another team picks him up.

Claude Julien is one of the 4-5 best coaches in the NHL today. Pity we couldn't get more big wins with him, but the man is very, very, very good at his job (even if fans don't like the style he has the team play, this is still true)

front office is the issue...they need to put together a quality team

Ultimately, ownership is the issue.

Ultimately, ownership is the issue.

Ownership, and the front office, have made a lot of mistakes (Johnny B, Seguin, etc...), but the roster has also underperformed. I think we're seeing that, while the people who bashed Claude for his handling of certain types of young players may have taken things a bit too far on occasion, they also had some valid points.

One thing that is already noteworthy under Butch: the Bs have scored the first goal in 5 of the 6 games played under him. I'm looking forward to seeing if that trend continues this afternoon at Dallas.

I managed to see all 4 road games this week, and one thing I noticed is that the Bs seem to dump the puck then make wholesale line changes far less often than they did under the Clod. By playing the dump-and-change game, they never were able to generate any offense for long stretches of time; under Butch however, they seem to dump the puck but always have at least one if not two fore-checkers follow it while the others changed. Amazing how many more opportunities a team can generate because it's not continuously giving the puck away to the other guys.
