Its time we change the Super Bowl trophy to The Bill Belichick Trophy....because Bill has quite the modesty and humbleness we all know and love about him,he would probably object to the change, but I think the NFL should seriously consider the name change....

Vince Lombardi was a legendary coach but Bill Belichick's time has come to take the only title he has yet to acheive in football..the title of greatness engraved on what is rightfully his now as best ever.

I assume any discussion related to this will commence once BB hangs up his headset and Microsoft tablet but its something I expect to see and with much reason of him deserving this honor... hopefully Goodell will be long gone by then who would stop such a change.

I have no problem with Lombardi's name on the trophy. The man has a mythic aura about him and is the first name most think of when "legendary HCs" are brought up. Also he won the first one.

Belichick doesn't need his name on a trophy to be great. If he isn't the best of all time then he as AT LEAST on equal footing with Vince. Maybe down the road after a couple of decades they can make a change but I doubt they will. Lombardi simply has too much name recognition.

Are you Michael Irvin? He's been on that bangwagon, or actually driving it, for a long time.

Nah. Just keep it as the Lombardi. It would be confusing if Belichick had 7 Lombardi's and 3 Belichicks.

If they wanted to name something after Belichick, it should be the coach of the year award since he is always the coach of the year every year but they won't choose him just because he can't technically take a 4-12 team to be 12-4.

I think this is a silly discussion.
Feels really off if Belichick's biggest proponents try to push for his name to supplant one of the most recognizable names the history of sports.

Leave the Lombardi trophies as they are. There are plenty of good ways to honor Belichick's legacy that don't require renaming something else.

Yes, they "should" do that, since Belichick is now the consensus "GOAT NFL HC."
But, they won't. Lombardi is legend. It would be like renaming St. Patrick's Cathedral when some scholars concluded that said Saint never really...well...actually existed. Wasn't gonna happen.
Plus, can you see a majority of these petty, jealous, pea-brained owners voting to name the damn thing after someone they hate? Not gonna happen.

What I think they could do, after Goodell is gone, is change the name of the Coach of the Year Award to the "Bill Belichick Coach of the Year Award," sort of like the "Walter Payton Man of the Year Award."

If we start changing the name of the Lombardi Trophy, then what? It might change again - other awards may change. It will be like stadium naming rights...who started that?

But we are smarter than them!

He sure has been saying it a long time. Lol

I'm all for leaving things as they are right now. It's bad enough that the rules keep changing. Too much change equals an anxious Patsboy12. Lol

Agree with @PatsFanSince74 . On top of that, one award that is now nameless that we can propose changing........ The Tom Brady Super Bowl MVP Award.

I like the idea of changing the NFL Coach of the Year Award to the BB award.

Out of spite, the league will never do it.

Will never happen, Bill Belichick is despised nationally.

Nah, Lombardi still has the most titles ever. Change the coach of the year award to the Belichick award.

BB and VL are tied at 5 NFL titles.

Note: if you do a search for Vince Lombardi, the Wikipedia hit is on the upper right and it ends with "people also searched for.....BB"

BB has 5 as HC, 2 as coordinator
VL has 5 as HC, 1 as coordinator

VL did it while competing against 12-14 team leagues until the last two. The teams that make the SB have to beat out 16 others today.

It's tradition I guess but I don't think they'll name anything after him because BB hurt the feelings of the people who lost which makes him a meanie.

Oh the wikipedia page wrote it in a confusing way, looked like 6.

Actually I hate Mike Irvin lol
That's too bad, because he LOVES our coach, QB and team. I have no significant feelings about him either way other than really enjoying his weekly radio spots with D, H & K on WEEI.
