T.O and Ty Law snubbed by HOF voters

TD did win the MVP and SB mvp.
Earl Morrall also won an MVP. And 3 SB's.

Jim Plunkett also was SB MVP. And won 2.

Corey Dillon was better. Was Pats' MVP in '04. And won SB.

And, none of their teams cheated during their best seasons.

<3 you mort

Law Seymour Harrison would get the most consideration I'd think. Mort getting in makes me happy. He sent us to our first super bowl. I thought they were saving the next k spot for vinatieri so he should get in as well

I agree with all you say here, including about Anderson. I think he and Adam are worthy and good honorees. I'm looking at Law getting to the very last vote as a hopeful sign that he will eventually get there and he richly deserves it. I think Rodney might get in good also, but IMHO neither Seymour nor any of the others has much of a chance at all. For me, assuming it happens, Bruschi and Brown will be worse omissions than Seymour.

My point is that based on how we saw players from Pittsburgh, Dallas, the Niners, and even the fing no championship Buffalo Bills get paraded into Canton, if what I think does come to pass, it will be a travesty for us Pats fans. Just another double standard imposed on us and our guys and that just sucks. Just makes us a lot less committed to tune in to the "next big thing" the NFL and its squadron of media whores are hyping. Fortunately of course what really matters is the Lombardis and not what Coffeenerdness pantywaist Peter King and those other jag-offs pull on their little power trip.

I'm actually very curious who you should think be inducted from the 3 out of 4 years. Care to enlighten me

At least if we're rooting for different teams this week we agree that Canton ****s us botb

Dillon has sneaky good career stats, and SB hardware. I could make a very compelling case that he should get some HOF consideration. But again, the media despised him.

Tomlinson was the only surefire lock, and I'm very glad Jason Taylor made it. I won't begrudge Warner or Davis either, though I guess others do. Both are deserving, and frankly, Law wasn't even the worst snub. Boselli, Jacoby, Mawae, and Faneca all belonged over a compiler kicker.

OK, well I will stipulate that my original list in this thread was my "want to be" group. "Should be" is a more challenging proposition for sure because we all have our own sense of what "should" be valued when considering whether a particular player should be elected to the HOF. For me, the role a guy plays to help a team win a championship should be valued more than some, perhaps most raw stats. You've gone through a lot of good debates these last couple days with folks from this forum comparing stats so you know how they can be used to make widely divergent points. A championship is a much more compelling stat than just about anything, but clearly there are no absolutes in any of this.

So I will "nut up" now and list my "should be HOF" from the Pats 2001 - 2004 era:

Law, Vinitieri, Harrison, Brown, Bruschi, Seymour

Brown and Bruschi are obviously the two that non Pats fans would have the most issue with. I can't counter with gaudy stats for either but if one takes the time to study how it was that those teams came through to win it all those years, the playmaking and leadership they demonstrated will be evident. I think that when one is entrusted with the responsibility of a HOF vote, they "should" do that type,of studying once a candidates name is offered.

I never quite understood what the big deal for fans about HoF entries are. In the end this is pure discussion fodder and nothing else.

Winning games or titles you experience with the team live, but whether someone makes the HoF or not I am so disconnected from that it's difficult to care.

Yeah, he kicked til he was like 50, that's the definition of a compiler. And he never had a chance to choke, since he only made it to one Super Bowl and the Falcons got blown out.

That helps explain why Law was snubbed.
Truth. Once I heard Peytie Pie was introducing the MVP for the year, I knew Brady wasn't winning and Law wasn't getting in. You don't want to put Peytie Pie in an uncomfortable position. On another note, the host of the show (Keegan Michael Key?) was hysterical. Very funny and very smooth. He made Fraudger extremely uncomfortable, which was a bonus.

A good case can be made for Vinatieri, Law, Seymour and Harrison. I do not think Brusci, Brown and McGinest have enough personal accolades (Pro Bowls etc..) or signature moments to make it but I hope I am wrong. The greatness of the 70's Steelers pulled in Swan and Stallworth who both only made the Pro Bowl 3x each and whose stats were very pedestrian (even for the era) so this run of excellence should carry some weight.

The only thing I care about the HOF is that my son and I have an agreement that when Brady and BB go in we will be there.
