The part about going for ANY 4th downs in the first quarter after 1 drive.

Certainly Edelman can't have his drops. I'd use White over Blount. Brady cannot give them an extra possession.

If we are down 10 or 14 points and Atlanta has been marching down the field, you than consider going on 4th down. Basically we can't be giving them the ball back and trusting our D to make a play if they haven't to begin with. If Edelman hadn't made that catch when we were down 10 in SB 49, I believe BB would've gone for it.

Going for it on 4th down down 10 with 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter is a lot different than going for it down 7 in the first quarter - which is what you originally said. And if Brady throws a pick, I assume we will just pack up and go home because the game will be over.

I'm just saYing my feelings. What's insane?

Thinking the Pats can't beat them when Tampa Bay, Seattle, San Diego, Philly and KC all beat them this year but the Pats cannot.

I meant we want to limit their possessions. A Brady pick gives them more opportunity to add to the scoreboard.

Pats can beat them. I just think it's going to take a Hercules type effort.

Well if we panic after allowing one score in the first quarter we sure as heck won't beat them.

Has anybody looked at Atl's schedule. They lost 5 games. They beat 3 bottom feeders by double digits. The other wins were all games that could have gone either way.

They destroyed the Rams, 49ers, Bucs, Saints, Panthers, Cardinals. Home game against the Panthers was a tight contest, think they were 8 points up with Carolina holding the ball just under 2 minutes left but Anderson threw horrible pick-six. Road game against the Saints was somewhat open in the 4th but Jones returned pick for a TD from their EZ. Denver as well but with Lynch under center there was no way the Broncos gonna win. Oakland game was decided in last 4-5 minutes, Green Bay on a last play.

With each passing day I am getting increasingly confident (definitely not over confident) that we will win.

Let's be careful about cherry picking their Eagles game in particular. The Pats defense didn't look so great against SEA or the first BUF game either and we know they're better than that now. I'd say their Eagles game was an outlier.

I'd love if they were like the Colts defense but I doubt it.

Ignoring stupidity like having to go for it on the fourth down after 5 minutes of the first quarter, it is a case of two high power offences going at each other. The game will be won and lost on who can hold the other team up the most. My gut says that we restrict them more than they can restrict us. Also, this game will be played with an open roof, which will throw of Atlanta by a few vital percent.

So yes, I am confident. Arrogance would be stupid, as this bunch are good.

Not confident at all. I think Atlanta's offense will be to much for the pats. I can see the pats losing by a TD or two.

They may very well be for all we know. Their two playoff wins were against a Seattle team with a lot of injuries (though not on offensive side of the ball) and Green Bay who played their worst game of the season. Falcon played with lead in both games and their defense had to be just ok for them to win.

In both those games, their offense stands out but we won't really know how good their D is. Sure they got a few turnovers but I would expect that if other team is trying to make big plays trying to get back in the game on the road in playoffs. Again, not taking away anything from Falcons but they got this far because of their offense.

I hope we can contain their offense and capitalize on the match ups against their defense.

The fact that we're all so confident is what worries me, a classic trap for disappointment.
