His rise shouldn't be that eye opening really. Scar is his coach.

Seriously, he's a good, young talent and the job Scar has done is with the whole OLine is extraordinary. The Texans likely could have upset the Pats if they trotted out that dismal OLine from a year ago. They still have Brady fits with the middle pressure. Conversely, the Pats are likely going for a three- peat if Scar is the coach last season.

Indeed. My only slight rebuttal to that would be that they were 10-0 before the injuries and the questionable coaching decisions that resulted from those injuries. Ultimately, a combination of poor OLine play, injuries and the fallout from them cost the Pats home field. The weather on AFCCG day was downright crummy. No way Denver wins that game in Foxboro.

The tools have been evident since college...one of my kids goes to GT so I watched him back then.....interesting how masons rise coincides with cannon....guess we are set in the right side for awhile

My favorite quote: "He is explosive and low off the ball with great power and a wide power base in the run game. Once he latches on with his strong hands, Mason is very difficult to shed as he keeps his feet pumping and looks to bury his opponent with nastiness and aggression."

Shaq has had kind of a funny year. He started on PUP from (reportedly) off season knee surgery. Then he broke his right hand and played several games in a cast. His first couple of games after the cast was removed he seemed to struggle with hand placement and overall consistency. But once he hit his stride over the last half of the year, he has arguably been the top right guard in the NFL. That's great value from a fourth round pick only in his second year.

It will be interesting next year to see Ted Karras and Tre Jackson fight it out for the third guard spot.
