Felger: 2016 Patriots not an "all-time Pats team", just winning during a "bad year for league"

Honestly I think he has a point.

We won 2 playoff games by good margins(one of which we had 3 turnovers) without Gronk and are favored to win the Super Bowl.

Who would have believed that in September?

Yep.

But even apart from that the team had almost nothing on offense. Dola (torn groin muscle) and Vereen (broken hand/finger ?) got injured in the first season game, Hernandez got arrested at the worst possible time in terms of roster building, Dobson injured his foot after flashing against the Steelers. Gronk missed a ****ton of the offseason with that arm infection and got his knee shredded against the Browns.

VW against Atlanta, Mayo with a torn pec against the Saints.

That team was so depleted and still somehow dragged themselves into the AFCCG. It might have been one of the best coaching jobs BB/McD and Patricia have done.

I totally forgot they lost Mayo. He was coming off another All-Pro season in 2012.

Ugh.

No. Don't listen to that Cheese Head moron who trolls on the radio. Don't give him the satisfaction and ratings. Just ignore him and his little Italian Igor sidekick.

Frankly, I could not give a ****.

Winning the Super Bowl > not winning the Super Bowl.

I know, right? Who cares if the league is "up" or "down"? A fifth Lombardi is a fifth Lombardi. Wouldn't you rather win the Super Bowl in a "down" year than....NOT win the Super Bowl in a "down" year?

It's just another way these guys try to dismiss and downgrade the Pats' insane level of success.

Here is the problem I have, instead of talking about how the Patriots can win, they talk about how they can lose. Negativity brings ratings and that is our cross to bear.

IMO, 2015 was also a weak year. I think this team would still be 12-4 (give or take a game) in a "regular" year, and that still makes them elite.

Sounds like "weak year" basically amounts to Rodgers sucks and Manning sucks/retired. And the Saints suck despite having Brees.

Too bad the league sacrificed parity to give Manning a shot at a ring

They also agreed with a caller who said Chung, one of the best tacklers on the team, can't tackle; Dion Lewis, the only guy who has ever scored three touchdowns in each phase of the game in a playoff game, hasn't done squat (I'm guessing because he wasn't prominently featured in the AFCCG); and how the team that ranked 4th against the run can't stop the run game. Felger felt they were "all good points." I turned it off shortly after that. I had stopped listening, but my thirst for SB coverage is insatiable. I'm an addict and I know it.

Mazz is actually more annoying..

Felger: "Pat's Defense just not really impressive to me I don't care about the scoring ranking. It's just not good.

Mazz: No Mike.. you're right.. I mean they don't pass the smell test. (he always says "No Mike" when he agrees with him

Felger owes his career and livelihood to the athletes he routinely disrespects .... and I think it explains why he hasn't interviewed any in years. They dont like him, and want nothing to do with him.

Troy Brown said exactly that a year ago...

Troy Brown Shares Not-So-Fond Memories Of Michael Felger In Patriots Locker Room

“Michael Felger was the guy that most guys just wanted … his hair was always perfect, he was a pretty boy thinking he was GQ with his cardigan sweaters on and stuff, argyle socks, and the penny loafers, and always just looking for that negative side of the player and ready to blast on somebody,” Brown recalled. “I think guys wanted to just punch him right in the face.”

LOL

I heard the beginning of the 4 o'clock hour when dbag felger floated this bs. It was very obvious trolling and he almost acted as if the listeners knew he was trolling and he knew as well. He said in order for Pats fans to gloat about a SB win Vs Atlanta, Pats fans need to start "talking up Atlanta"....

Thing is f&m have probably watched zero Atlanta games all season and they know nothing about the team...

"Probably?" Those guys barely watch the Patriots. There's no way they watched the Falcons this year.

"Why do I have to watch their games? All you need to know about them is that they're a dome team. And all dome teams suck!!!!!"

I hate to admit it, but Felger is kinda right. This year, the NFL has sucked in terms of quality. I don't think this team is as good as some of the past teams that have made it to the Super Bowl.

SPOILER ALERT: If the Patriots win the Super Bowl, the following 5 weeks of the Troll Show will consist of Felger & Appendage saying "It's not that impressive, the nyjfl sucked this year!"

And if the Patriots don't win, the following 5 weeks of the Troll Show will consist of "That's how bad the Patriots are, they couldn't even win in a sucky year!"

I really don't care if Matt Ryan and Julio Jones both catch the flu and can't play next Sunday. A Super Bowl win is a Super Bowl win.

Goodell handing Brady that trophy is Goodell handing Brady that trophy.

No one cares that Gronk was on one leg in Super Bowl 46, none of us feel bad the Broncos got waxed in Super Bowl 48 because Von Miller tore his ACL.

I don't care how it's won, who plays and what the circumstances were. Winning the Super Bowl is the only thing that matters in the record books.

Is Felger secretly related to Goodell? Why does this guy rip the Pats constantly? Is he like this on all Boston teams? Must be trying to get ratings...

Frankly, I could not give a ****.

Winning the Super Bowl > not winning the Super Bowl.

The Redskins won the SB in 1987. Guess how many people remember that was the year of the strike? Not a whole lot.

Plus, I reject the ******** premise. If the Patriots beat the Falcons (and that's a big IF--they are a great team), it would be a huge feat. The NFC had great teams this year. The Cowboys, Packers, Seahawks, etc.. And the AFC, admittedly a lot weaker, had some strong teams (Texans, Chiefs, Steelers). Just because we made it look easy doesn't mean it was easy. It's because we are that good. The Seahawks game was a wake-up call, and we've run the table since then. We just did it without calling attention to ourselves like family-man Rodgers or walking-boot-berger.

He's a f'ing tomato can writer.

Amen. The Bears in 86 are revered. It didn't matter that the Pats barely put up a fight.

The same can be said for last season, but that didn't diminish a thing to me. There's 30 other teams still wishing they were in Houston.
