For those of us who grew up during those years...
All In The Family = GOAT
Oh jeez meathead, have you been talking to my wife? She found a station that plays old episodes and our house have Edith and Archie all day for a week now....All In The Family = GOAT
To me that's a 1st place tie with Seinfeld, Meathead!

Seinfeld is one of my favs too but I put AITF in a different category because of its ability to get super serious and then funny 3 minutes later.
That was a very unique aspect of that show. Can't think of any other sitcom, before or since, that could do that. AITF made you laugh your ass off, but it also helped to open minds.
Sad.
Groundbreaking talent.
So many memories of the old **** Van Dyke show and then MTM.
An entire era.
RIP
"Oh Rob...you're just saying that!"No one wore slacks like Laura Petrie!
Good Times ran a similar theme.
Also on my "Hit List" of shows I watched that are still, IMHO, funny today, were Taxi, WKRP in Cinncinnati, and the Bob Newhart Show.
Hey, Aaahhhch...All In The Family = GOAT
Good Eeeeeeeeeeeeeevening...Here a nice read: How Nora Ephron Said Goodbye to 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show'

The Mary Tyler Moore Show is one of the oases in what has been called the wasteland of television.

Thanks!
"See? Now I told you Laura you can't go out like that - you're too pretty!!"
Seinfeld was great and I've watched every episode multiple times...but All in the Family was groundbreaking and took on tough social issues by giving Archie and the "Meathead" lines that opened up issues like racism and anti-antisemitism for discussion by mocking them in a way that no one else could. To me that's a 1st place tie with Seinfeld, Meathead!
