Wasn't pretty but I don't give a ****.

We were mediocre and scored 34 points. Take away the turnovers and we drop 50 on the Texans!

They showed our O line can be beat by a good pass rush.

We'll be seeing that "DEs & OLBs lined up over Center" thing again until we show we can exploit it. When Houston did that they gave Brady fits. When they didn't do that Brady had time to make a sandwich in the backfield.

Maybe it was because he was sick all week, but i would like to see the pats establish the run with blount more next week

This is the worst I have seen Brady play since the second New York Giants super bowl.

He has got to play better next week or we are cooked.

Thank god the defense and special teams showed up. For the defense To be on the field for 16 of 20 minutes of game time is so not the patriots.

Somebody needs to kick the offenses butts.
If this is Brady's worst, the Pats are in good shape.

I mean the Pats could have a QB like Brock or Manning (last year).

Brady didn't have his best game but made enough big plays to complement a stellar defensive effort.

Brady really needs to stop Favreing it up in the air, he could have had a few more INT.
Doesn't seem like there was jackshit open underneath and the intermediate routes were rarely leading to open receivers. Brady had moments where had tons of time and still decided to launch it deep. Seems like the Texans were challenging him to go deep and he did. Much of it worked but still didn't capitalize on a lot of it.

Going to get flamed but don't rely on Dion Lewis.
I think production wise it'd be tough to expect the same output as tonight. First guy in history with a rushing, receiving and return TD all in one playoff game? Don't think anyone expects a repeat. Still though, his versatility is critical the rest of the way.

Given the short fields the offense kept leaving them to deal with, that was a tremendous defensive performance.

Agreed.
This was a competitive game for 3 quarters and I would say the Patriots overall (especially the first half) struggled to find their rhythm/mojo. Specific to the D, it initially had issues with stopping the run and a few blown coverages obviously didn't help. But overall, take away the turnovers/short fields and the D did what it needed to do: don't allow a team to score repeatedly and make them kick field goals much more often than not. Bottom line: the combination of that kind of D and an O playing close to its capability should cause favorable results.

IMHO the strength of the Patriots' balance really showed through tonight. While it's concerning Houston so aptly and often put the clamps down on the Patriots' O (to be fair Houston does have a very good D), our balance allows for these kinds of flatlines while still keeping us in plain sight of the victory. A better team than Houston would have made this a nail biter but we'd still have been in it until the end. That is in contrast to some years past where this kind of flatline/struggle on O would have been fatal (IMHO that is what happened in the 2010 Jets AFCDG).
Sure, we can lose but we'll be within sight of victory right to the very end in any of the 2 remaining games thanks to 2016's balance.

Maybe it was because he was sick all week, but i would like to see the pats establish the run with blount more next week

Blount got a few tries but when you only get 1 or 2 yards you cant run it again. If Blount was consistently getting 5 yrds a carry then he would have had more carries.

I think it is doubtful brady plays two poor games in a row

Arguably Houston is the toughest D we will face in the AFC. While some of Houston's ranking prove that to be true while some other ranking do not, I give Houston's D the nod based on how much its offense was made to be on the field (Pitt and KC offenses complimented its D much better). And if that is true then by default our offense should look better next week against a lesser defense (and coaches that don't know BB/TB so well)......maybe :)

I didn't read through the thread, but the main area of concern was the offensive line to me. David Andrews had a really rough game. I'm not sure if it's just a fluke or whether the Texans had the personnel and coaching to expose him, but he had a bad game. Fortunately, we survived and I don't think either opponent can quite boast the pass rush that can Houston across the board.

Our D has been playing well and, despite the anemic offense we faced, still only surrendered 16 points even when given several short field positions.

I don't recall the last time the Pat's had 2 bad games in a row, which bode well, and feel pretty confident heading in to next week's game.

Go Steelers!
