I hate to link to them, but I do not know how to embed this. If I can get a PM telling me how to, I would appreciate it.

The info does not come until you skip the first video, just click to the near end, then the next video comes up. They mention punts, but implicate that the football IS impacted by cold weather with PSI.

Steelers-Chiefs moved to night with storm on tap

Scientist here, I'm just glad BSPN slipped up.

They do not mention Brady, but pretty much exempt him from deflategate.

I'll get it, Just a second. Remove your link so they don't get clicks.

edit: Here's the video. It's a Sport Science episode. But it's 2 years old. I guess they decided to auto-play it after that article since it was sort of relevant to the upcoming PIT/KC game.

Ahh can't wait for a link from the national enquirer of sports.

I think they "corrected" the story.

I never knew the cold could do that?

IF he had that football in a 10 degree room it would have been closer to 10 psi unless they inflated it in a 55 degree room.

They show original inflation at 13.5. And final inflation at 11 psi.

IF inflated in a 70 degree room and put into a 10 degree room it would have depressurized 3.19 psi which would be 10.31 psi.

Funny thing is that he seems to have screwed up on his deflation percentages. 11 psi / 13.5 = 19.5%. Which fails to use absolute values. Should be (11 + 14.7) / (13.5 + 14.7) = 9%. (Depending on elevation.)

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

all these networks can send one guy to these cold games and do a test and report the result. But they wont.

You can just copy-paste the entire article into a quote and just post the url to the site without the hyperlink.. just have to legally cite the source

Hey, Bill Nye got that absolute pressure thing wrong too and still has to acknowledge it. Used to like the guy but he lost my respect over that.

You are exactly right. The IGL uses absolute, not relative pressure. The drop in absolute pressure is proportional to the drop in T in degrees Kelvin.

Even Neil deGrasse Tyson screwed that up, at first.

WOW! Well hubba bubba bubba this is back again...
For the record, I am sure most posters rode bikes when they were kittens er eh kids
and can attest to the fact that had to pump up the tires when the weather was cold.

Thanks. Yeah I know Tyson screwed that up but he did recant stating he forgot to use absolute values. I like the guy personally. He brings excitement to the world of science which is a good thing.

Same here and he clearly let his bias leapfrog his objectivity. Which, imo, diminishes his work with global warming.

Yes, and then he had to add that you still don't loose 2 psi in every football on a 48 degree night. Which is true, the NFL was preserving that 2 psi lie.

I am a big NdGT fan. Can't blame him for not knowing he was fed a lie.

Doesn't matter anymore

Winner! Bingo! Bingo! As he said, it no longer matters. Everyone has made up their minds. Nothing anyone says will matter because the NFL was given the green light to lie and deceive.
