The Patriots DON'T regret hiring Bill Belichick

Remember when "The Patriots will regret hiring Belichick"?

I wish there were more articles calling out all the mediots for their ridiculously uninformed hot takes.

Maybe it would make them actually think a bit before they opened their fat mouths and let loose another stream of verbal diarrhea.

It wouldn't matter. Accuracy is not the priority. And they'd just re-spin it, if it even reached any level of attention.

This shouldn't even be a problem. But gone are the days of reporting news objectively. Now every article is half editorial, half half-truth and a 100% agenda driven message measured by click rates. Nothing to do with factual reporting, so calling them out years later would only make them happy for a few new clicks.

In the sports writer defense, back in those days, the articles were basically glorified box scores sprinkled in with game notes, injuries and quotes from players and management that you couldn't get anywhere else at the time. If you read one of those articles today, you'd probably fall asleep.

But boy, was that a swing and a miss of Mighty Casey proportions.

I mean... sure some might have been to rash to judge without even seeing a game. But dude, come on...

Hindsight will always be 20/20.... I bet very few Patriots fans were happy to trade a 1st round pick to a rival for a HC with a losing record...

Damn, **** Vermeil was prophetically spot on.

Rams head coach **** Vermeil was a little more accurate in his assessment in that same piece:

“I believe in my profession and I believe there are people who can make a difference in a leadership role as a head coach,” Vermeil said. “And I think that is a small price to pay for the right guy.

“I don’t know Bill Belichick that well, but the Patriots obviously think that much of him. If they’re right, it is a tremendous investment. To me, there have been a ton of first-round flops. If you get the right NFL coach, he will change your organization.”

Sadly this can be applied to the news media across the board these days, not just with Sports. With only a handful of corporations owning all the media outlets that is what we have ended up with. Social media only makes it worse as well, one out of context tweet becomes fact. Perception becomes reality. It really is a post-fact world.

Looking back with 20-20 hindsight we see just how wrong the so-called experts were.
Thankfully today we have much better experts able to predict election outcomes, election stock market impact, Brexit impact, and climate accurately.

His resume speaks for itself, but Belichicks biggest challenge awaits him.

The NE defense will have to stop either KC or Pitt offenses for the AFCC crown. KC is 2001 NE Pats like good. They make plays when needed and score enough points to win. Pitt is a wide open attack chewing up large chunks of yardage with a plethora of good WRs coming out of the wood work.

Should NE be victorious, I see Atlanta, Dallas or GB in the big dance. All 3 teams driven by offenses ranked 1, 3, and 4 per 2016 football outsiders.

If the NE defense can defeat a combination of these teams and win Championship # 5. IMO, it would be Belichicks greatest piece of work yet.

After Pete the Poodle, I was thrilled to get Belichick. The Poodle became a far better coach later in his career than he was here. Bluntly, he sucked.

I was living in NYC when the whole BB Resign as HC of NYJ saga went down. I remember Parcell's BFF Francesca going on an hour long tirade about how BB will regret leaving the Jets and going to the Pat's, and that Kraft was a buffoon.

We all have opinions on things, we've all been wrong at times and we've all been right at times. It's no different for the coaches and the players as well. We simply cannot predict the future with any certainty.

But many mediots are absolutely convinced that they can forecast the future, and it's the level of their certainty which is absolutely disturbing. They could say, "I don't like this hire for these reasons." I am okay with that, even if it turns out to be wrong. There's a logic to it and a rational way of thinking that I can understand.

But they often scream it at the top of their lungs with absolute certainty. There's very little thought put into these things, just who can yell the loudest or most absurd things. And then they pair people who disagree to argue non-stop about it, and neither of them is actually "thinking," so neither can actually be reasoned with. They just scream louder and louder, digging further and further into their entrenched positions until they utter more and more ridiculous extremes.

Without BB during his time this team is nothing.
Same for Kraft and Brady. Together we are proud NE Patriot fans.

Sure....and the Rams must regret not hiring him

Rams laughed at the idea of hiring Bill Belichick in 1997

From that article:

When Lombardi says that Belichick was “selected” and not “elected,” he means that Kraft did his own legwork to determine that Belichick would be the best fit for the organization, and that he didn’t rely on an “old boys club” to nominate their friends and proteges for openings.

Probably another reason why the Patriots are hated at the highest levels.

But Kevin Mannix said he was "Pond Scum". Who am I to believe?

ridiculously uninformed takes is what sports media is all about. I just finished "Luckiest Man" which is about Lou gehrig and one writer wrote that the reason why the yankees were scuffling the year Gehrig retired was because they all had come down with ALS too. This was a national sports writer but before writing his piece he had never bothered to fact check, granted it was the 30s

its honestly likely a top reason and super underrated, so many owners seem to resent Kraft and BB because they arent part of that good ole boys club. I loved where they said the pats could have signed Dom Capers as Head coach, the idea of him as the superior head coach just cracked me up.
