2017 Draft Prospect Thread

thanks. i knew it was a complimentary pick but forgot we'd lose the early 4th. better hope they get given a 3rd round compensatory pick.
The comp pick expert, @nickkorte on Twitter, seems convinced it'll be the #3. Mack's playing time worked out and him making the pro bowl seemed to clinch it according to Nick. Thank God, a #4 next year would have been a disaster - not that we get a great return but a late #3 this year is a lot better.

I saw Malik play high school basketball 3 years ago. He was on a New Castle, Pa team that played a semi-final game in Williamsport. Crazy that he's this far along so quick. Hey Manx, did you see play where Adams tracked Jackson down in LSU game yesterday?

I saw one clip of him tracking someone down - elite range in the run game.

Godwin declaring is intriguing. He has gotten the better of almost every corner he's played against this year. I didn't expect him to be eligible, so I haven't done a serious evaluation, but he's flashed every time I've watched Penn State. He plays way bigger than his listed size. One of my top guys I'd marked down to study for next year, but it sounds like he's leaning toward coming out this year. Reminds me of Hopkins.

Ryan Anderson seems like forgotten man in the Alabama front seven, but he might have a more complete game than Williams. Great interception for a TD against Washington. Seems to run well and shows good instincts. Could be a nice linebacker.

I love Ryan Anderson, he's probably my favorite edge guy in terms of talent/value. He uses his hands as well as just about anyone in this draft, plays good, sound assignment based football and seems to be a great teammate and leader at Alabama. He might not be the same caliber of pass rusher as Tim Williams but I think he has a more well rounded game. You know coming from Bama he is well coached and should fit well in New England. I think he would be a perfect long term Ninko replacement.

You'll love Kazee. He only has 1 cut up on DB from last year but hes another guy I love that could fill that role. Great tackler. I'd argue best run support corner. Guy is a monster in that area. Just a really good football corner.

Right now unless Humphrey declares Sidney Jones is my #1 so far. Also big fans of Lewis and Sutton. Stribling and King both deserve some love as big boundaries.

Teez Tabor and Quincy Wilson are two guy's that can come out early and be selected in the first round. One of the deepest drafts at corner. I hope we snatch one.

PFF
#SEC leaders in Yards After Contact per Carry (returning RBs)
1) "Boom" Williams
2) Alvin Kamara
3) Nick Chubb
4) Leonard Fournette

Gators’ slot CB Duke Dawson surrendered an opposing QB rating of 64.6, the eighth-lowest among all slot corners.

All of those guys declared except for Chubb, I believe. Kamara would be a nice piece in this offense.

Yes.

It sux when you have such a great team. It seems waiting for the draft is literally that much longer. Playoffs, FA and late pick. After FA we'll have a better picture of where we're going.

The thought of extra picks in this draft really intrigues me. A lot.

1st down conversion % on 3rd&long passes (7+ yd) this year

As tempting as a CB or DE is maybe LB is our best option for the first round.

But I mean a true LB and not a LB who is a pass rusher and can't cover.

Foster/Cunningham both would be okay. That is the clear weakness of the D. Van Noy/McCellin/Roberts are just too inconsistent. Those are generally the players considered true LBs that are first round talents.

Does anyone think Watt or Davis or someone else will be a LB worth taking in round 1?

I know the CB/pass rusher are very talented spots and sexy picks (I would not be against taking either in round 1) but is this something we should be anticipating more?

Im a huge Davis fan. Had him as a 1st forever.

Foster as well.

If the Pats pick early on it will be a player that has a lot upside and someone who can play by the end of 17.

Sometimes it makes sense to take the top tier talent of one position instead of picking from the middle of the pack of another position.

I could see us taking a few offensive guys as well. Again that may be where the talent and value is when we pick.

Well never pick a clearly less talented player. If no one is a fit with the right talent and spot you need then trade back if all else fails.

I def worded that wrong. Not exactly what I was saying but yes you're correct.

Two questions:

1. I mentioned him a while ago but what are peoples thoughts on Chidobe Awuzie? Seems like a perfect Pat to me. I said when I posted about him that he could fill a Kyle Arrington role - good tackler, good nickel corner and plays special teams. Everything I've read about him says that he has an A+ character too.

2. I'm going to download some games from this season to watch. Can anyone recommend some quality instructive games to watch. Which games will teach me the most about these prospects?

1. I like his game! I have him with a 3rd or 4th round grade depending on how he runs. Back pedal can be choppy, but love the ball skills.

2. I watched the usc Washington game recently. Adoree Jackson had a nice game. Vea, Turpin and qualls had nice games on the d line. The young usc qb looks like a player!

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for.

Kofi Amichia is going to rise after the combine. He's so graceful out at left tackle. Very comfortable and in control. I don't think he's a perfect technician (not bad, either), but he has some very nice athleticism. He's probably a little on the small size to remain at tackle (6'3 #300), but he could be an excellent guard if he moves inside. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on him during draft prep.

BTW, Sean Davis was named the Steeler's rookie of the year. I'm still depressed that we got Jones instead of Davis. He was such a binkie for me this year!

I liked him too and thought he was an ideal Pat. I did go into the draft thinking the choice was between Davis and Jones. It would have been interesting to see which way BB would have gone if both had been available at our pick.
