At first I was not sure about the deal. Looking back 3 years for 12M is great and the Pats finally have an outside deep threat.

For that kind of money, I think a lot of us expected a starter/go-to type, which hasn't quite happened. Hogan is no lower than 2nd on the WR depth chart and gets a lot of snaps, but under 40 catches in a year isn't quite what you expect from a starting WR. However, the yard totals are a bit closer to acceptable #2 numbers, and he does, of course, pass the all-important "eye test."

Also, "that kind of money" I referred to in the above paragraph is actually pretty low for a starting WR and closer to #3 WR money. Good price for a strong role player, which is just about what we got. He's at least justified his cost way more than Amendola (even though I love the guy and he does everything the team asks). I do think we might sour on him if he has another year or two putting up #3 WR production from the #2 spot, though.
