Bills owner Pegula when he hired Rex Ryan said:
He was very impressive during the interview process, as were many of the candidates to which we spoke, and we feel Rex is the best fit for our team. We look forward to his leadership and expertise in directing our team to the playoffs and bringing a championship to Buffalo for our fans.

Bills owner Pegula today said:
I spoke with Rex earlier today and we mutually agreed that the time to part ways is now. These decisions are never easy. I want to take this opportunity to thank Rex for all his efforts and wish him all the best moving forward.

Rob Ryan was trully living off his family's name. He was god awful in New Orleans. He was an abomination with the Cowboys. Both team IMMEDIATELY got better after he left.

Rex, on the other hand, could still be a good DC. But he needs to tone down the antics. No respectable coach will hire him if he continues to be a loud-mouth baffoon. Personally, i think he would do well in TV. He has charisma and he is not as dumb as he people may think.
Personally, I'd prefer to see less loud mouth baffoons on TV rather than more.
Zero chance Rex doesn't end up in the media. Fox Sports and BSPN will bid against each other and back up the brinks trucks for this clown.
BSPN doesn't have the kind of money it used to have, and Fox Sports never had the kind of money BSPN used to have.
The Bills-Jets game next Sunday is shaping up to be a real nail-biter.
Toenail-biter? :D
wow and they are gonna bench tyrod taylor for the last game.

talk about shooting yourself in the rex ryan's favorite body part.
No worries, they're playing the Jets!!! EJ Manuel will look like TB12 against the Jets!!!

Rex will have a new NFL HC job this comimg season.

Like most, I'm sad to see Rexy go, I enjoyed him both for his personality and the inevitable coaching disasters he brings to our AFC East competition. I would disagree slightly with PatFanKen in that I think Rex doesn't hate the Patriots. I think he has tried with a singular obsession to try to beat them and done his best to get in their heads and otherwise thrown them off their game, but it's pretty clear that he respects the hell out of BB and Brady and what the Patriots as a team have accomplished. I personally think he'll be the best TV announcer since Madden and will keep it all positive while providing some real insight into X's and O's. His weakness as a coach was organizational and managerial, as evidenced by the complete lack of discipline and critical mistakes at key moments made by every team he coached. And I don't think he ever had a competent QB to work with, unless I've forgotten someone.

And on another note, can we PLEASE put an end to "baffoon", which is not a word and never has been. You are thinking of "buffoon".

I don't know why, but I just feel sorry for the guy. I know he's a ****, but when he's beaten down I like him the best. It's when he's winning that I don't like him. I have a "friend" like that. Very nice guy when he's on a low, but what a putz when he's up.

I'm with others that think he'd make an interesting TV personality. He's got knowledge of the Xs and Os, and a dynamic personality to deliver that knowledge into homes on Sunday.

3. So if it's true and he's actually done, then Rex NEEDS to go into TV and not back to be a DC. He'd be a natural. Not only that, he hates the Pats, so he'd fit right in at BSPN.

I don't think he hates the Pats. His obsession stems ultimately from admiration. I actually think he'd be a potential Brady/BB ballwasher.

When I think of people who hate the Pats, Harbawl, Jerruh, Irsay, the Maras, and the Rooneys come to mind.

I literally have the champagne on ice that the Jets or Bills bring in Marvin Lewis when he gets canned by the Bengals.

Interesting observation. When he's up, he seems like the kind of guy who simply could not deal with being down, but Rex does manage to do it partly because he is not above laughing at himself.

To be fair it's tough to be a Successful NFL head coach when the only club in you bag is a 9 wood Ginty.
Rex has had more than his share of NFL QB gintys ....

I agree. The feeling is mutual, too, I believe. Well, mutual in that there is respect, not necessarily the admiration. Remember that there are pictures from recent offseason coaches meetings where Rex Ryan is the guy Belichick was hanging out with. I don't think he would have employed Rob if he didn't have respect for the Ryans' football acumen. And I think Rex appreciates Belichick giving Rob an opportunity in the NFL, and Rob's parting was for another opportunity, not a dismissal. It's a case of the apprentice (or the apprentice's twin brother) trying to best the master.

And for those worried about the Bills finally getting a competent head coach, you can rest easy. Doug Whaley is heading this search yet again. Think Tom Coughlin would want to step into this mess, when he could basically have total control of the Jacksonville franchise if he wanted to?

Bills announce Doug Whaley will lead head coaching search

Despite what people like to say, all the color men have that knowledge. The networks don't want them to deliver the knowledge, except in a very watered down way. They are deathly afraid that viewers will find it boring.
