Carr OUT for the season

I don't understand why people think Denver would lay down to the Raiders? Unless I'm missing something, aren't they still very much in the hunt? Plus, its a division game and most teams don't usually lay down to division opponents as playing spoiler is fun.

Matt McGloin will more than have his hands full against the Broncos' defense. The Raiders are much much more than just Carr, though. Their defense is solid, and after watching Simian and the Broncos get beat 16-3 at home, I expect a low-scoring affair that either team can win.

The Patriots need to take care of business. Brady has only played 11 games and is relatively fresh compared to other years, and the Dolphins are good but still had to go to OT to beat a Bills team that has major holes.

You know who I think will want a statement game? McDaniels. He's in his last roundup with the Patriots, and a 14-2 finish with two big offensive games would work out great from him. He'll interview for a job during the bye week, and big win over a playoff caliber team would be a nice way to walk into some owner's office.

so if Den wins today , but Mia beats the Pats next week, the Pats would then need Oak to lose against Den to get the @1 seed. Would Den screw over the Pats in that case?..meaningless game for them, a win gives the Pats the @1 seed..interesting....but can't see how a Carr-less Oak team wins that game in Den.

want KC to get the #2 seed and have the Pats play Mia/Hou, or a Carr-less Oak

THIS. Even if you dont feel hfa is priority, having the 1 seed is a huge advantage here. There is a good possibility kc wins the 2 seed which would mean we'll either get a horrible afcs team or raiders without carr in rd 2. And if mia pulls the upset in rd 1, we get them @ home. All 3 of those matchups look great for us.

If we fall to 2 seed we are almost def needing to play both pitt/balt and kc. Of course these are all teams we should beat but youre odds are much better the route of #1 seed as these are all tougher matchups.

For those worried about facing denver, we would be playing them in foxboro. Whens the last time theyve beaten us here? Theyre really only a threat in mile high.

Gonna assume you meant needing den to beat Oakland. I feel they will try, its a division rival and their final home gamw of the year.

I'm pulling for the Ravens big time today. The Steelers are clearly our biggest threat and to have them removed from the playoffs would be ideal for us.

If we learned anything from last year, it's to play this season out full tilt and make sure we don't have to travel across the country for a road AFCCG, Carr or no Carr...

Our defensive unit is cohesive and showing a pass rush and a pass defense that looks like it could take us to the Super Bowl. They look as if they are enjoying the power and precision they are producing and I expect that in the South Florida weather, they will want to go at it again against Moore. Brady must have enough pull to state he wants to start. Any other scenario would be terribly "UnBrady-like" . So ... he starts gives his receiving core more game experience. If they are up, I see Coach B and McDaniels letting Jimmy G. take some series. I am relieved that Ghost is kicking at a high level. We have to have him confident and prepared. On to Miami and lets have seafood platter.

A Ravens win, and both Pitt/Balt could get in with Pitt being the #6 seed....meaning we play them in round 2...no thanks

if mia-pitt-den all tie at 10-6, pitt is in

That's s joke but i don't see that happening. The chiefs still haven't locked up anything if the ravens win today. Chiefs should treat tonight like a playoffs game. They need to win.

Is there a site that explains all these "what ifs?" In the days of newsprint the Globe would have a section that explained all possibilities this late in the season.

IMO...best case for Pats....Balt and KC win today
KC win next week against SD, Oak loss vs Den
Pitt-Den out of play-offs
Pats play Oak/Hou/Mia in round 2 and then the Balt/KC winner in the AFCCG

If Miami and Pitt both finish with same record, does Pitt win that tie breaker?

no..just in a 3 way

A 3 way with who?

If Pitt loses today and beats Cleveland, they finish 10-6
If we beat Miami, Miami finishes 10-6

Miami beat the Steelers head to head in that scenario and they get in as the #6 and Pitt is out...
