Post Game Thread Jets @ Pats....Christmas Eve Massacre

Didn't want to start a new thread but, it's incredible the confidence Brady has in Mitchell. He's easily throwing to him in double coverage and more, counting on him to make the play, and he does. Losing Gronk sucks, but Mitchell is like another vet to go along with Julian and hogan.

If MM keeps improving he'll be a top 10 WR by 2020.

Am I being a jerk by saying I was pissed when the defense allowed the Jets to march down the field and kick that FG? I really wanted to see us not only blow out the Jets, but humiliate them by shutting them out. I do take a little solace in knowing Bowles had no faith in Offense by kicking that FG, but I don't think they should have gotten that far. Perhaps I am asking for too much, but that would have been sweet to shut them out.

If Brady throws 2 TDs and no ints next week, he will match Nick Foles for best TD to Int ratio 27:2 or 13.5 to 1.

Brady needs to get 3 TDs 0 Ints then. I don't want him tying with Foles. He should be above him. If the OL again holds well he can do it.

Also MVP race is close.

#1 Ryan (by a hair... it depends on how Brady plays next week. Brady can force the win and ryan can't)
#2 Brady
#3 Rodgers
#4 Elliot

Why?

#1 Ryan - He is so close to the top of every major QB stat including quantity and effeciency. Also his play has been MVP worthy and has done so without Julio Jones a few games. Not that he has lacked for options when he is not in there. Also 16 people have caught a pass from him this year. That is an NFL record.
He has not had a good D. The case against him though is his O was stacked most of the year and he might finish with less wins than Brady or he same in 4 more games while not playing as well as him over that span and Brady did it without Gronk half of his year while Ryan has had Julio almost all of his.

#2 Brady - Like I said what Brady does on Miami can force this. Foles didn't win the MVP his 27/2 TD/Int year but did it against Manning's 55 TD year and played in less games (starts) with less YPG. Brady will need all 12 games to make his MVP case over other people. With 3 TDs and 0 Ints and a 11-1 record he will have posted the best TD/Int ratio of all time and have 11 wins that Ryan may or may not match. Basically he will have accomplished as much as Ryan and done it better in less time. That is how he makes his case over him.

#3 Rodgers - He has played great recently and leads the league in TDs. That is key to his case. His YPG is lowish though for an MVP and though he brought his team back he put them in the whole. with 10 wins max possible getting his team in would be great but he needs Brady/Ryan to fumble a bit to make his case as Ryan did what he did better with an even worse D and Brady needs to drop his play. Still a great recovery and another great year for Rodgers.

#4 Elliot - It is hard for RBs to win MVP. Elliot makes a good case but really you need an amazing year to do it. Either you need to break a rushing or TD record or yards from scrimmage record (or come close) and probably hope no QB has an overly good year. Still great year (also the fact he is behind the best OL of the past 20 years maybe hurts him a bit).

I'd prefer it happen while he's still on his rookie deal, TYVM.

Mitchell doesn't have the talent to be a top 10 WR I think. However that is not a big deal. He has made a believer of me. He will be a 1000 yard WR for years to come. The dude runs great routes and doesn't drop anything. Honestly I think he will be better than Deion Branch was here. That as far as i am concerned would be plenty good enough.

I really do not care who wins the mvp, just so long as the patriots win th Super Bowl!

Someone with a boat should go out and name it seven rings, that way bb is motivated to win two more Super Bowls!

This game was won and lost before they even kicked off. The Pats were on a mission and the Jets never showed up.

None of the Jets players had anything to play for except Pride and there was little enough of that to be had. They clearly all believed the outcome of the game was certain, and were just going through the motions waiting for the game clock to run down.

Embarrassing for the NFL to sell tickets for a sham matchup. Anyone else notice how many of the Jets players got "injured"'with a pulled back or tweaked knee. Their entire OL is already on IR. They're playing their third string QB and even their #1 is terrible.

They weren't a legit opponent, they were like the sham team the Harlem Globetrotters travel with to be professionally humiliated. It was barely a football game. This was...nothing. The cotton ball in the aspirin bottle, or the sprig of parsley on the plate to keep it from looking too empty. The NFL was filling their contractual obligations to fill airtime for the TV Networks. The fans that sat in the rain deserve a refund.

Bilal Powell was the only guy that had any spark at all. Bowles didn't even bother to look frustrated--guy was smiling like it was a sunny day, and he'd just saved 10% on his car insurance.

Always great to get a win, I suppose, but what a joke. Hard to feel too good about beating a team that's just going through the motions. At least the win at Denver was for real.

Brady winning the trifecta of the SB, the SB MVP and the regular season MVP would pretty much be the ultimate middle finger to Goodell.

Honestly, where is David Johnson? I know he plays for Cardinals, but that season he has is > all others.
I know he doesnt play for a contender, but if he gets another 100 skirmish yards and a TD next game, he should run with it.

If the Broncos and Ravens lose (both possible) I think the Dolphins would have clinched a playoff spot and would only be playing for placement. Right?
if Denver loses tonight, the phins clinch a playoff spot. Hopefully this happens and they rest next week.
