2017 Draft Prospect Thread

Really want to see this guy against better competition (like the Senior Bowl), but man does he move well for someone this big. He kind of reminds me of big #55 Willie McGinest. How's that for hyperbole?

He is my favourite under the radar guy. He could blow up the senior bowl and the combine.

His arm length is ludicrous and he has enough burst to play outside or inside.

The comparable i am working with is tommy Kelly. Really long, really raw.

I have him with our 64th pick. The package is just too intriguing.

As for mcginest, I think that's what taco charlton could top out as. He's the best elephant backer to come along in a few years. Just perfect blend of size and power. I think he ends up top 15 when it gets to draft time.

The two names that keep coming to mind are Jason Taylor and Calias Campbell. Fascinating player.

That is crazy mobility for someone that size.

One warning would be Margus hunt, who was a physical marvel as well and has been a mess in the pros. He was quite a bit older and just learning football, but coming from a small school with raw fundamentals can be too much to overcome.

Still worth the risk for me, but that is the cost of potential.

No matter who you are playing against the football field stays the same. You see the burst and the power and the quickness and it looks right to me. One potential downside is a look at his build and can't help but think he looks maxed out there. He already has a mans body. Maybe he can add more too it but i don't see much inthe way of physical upside here. Technique could be better though so he does have some room to grow there.

Overall I would agree he doesn't see the 4th round. He will be taken day 2 or i will be very surprised. That is a big statement too considering IMO this is the best draft in 5 years (QBs and OTs aside)

I guess I like Beckwith better than you guys do (probably means I missed something and need to review his tape). I'd love to take him in the third of he drops due to injury. Between him and Alabama's Jackson, we could have a couple nice injury discount depth moves.

No, we could just as easily be wrong or a lil off.

Alabama is so ****in good. Guys like Minkah and Jackson just laying around lol.

I think Jackson goes 1st if teams think he can match up nickel but I think some might even like him at cb? His size is great there, 6' 195. Lets see how he moves in undies first lol.

As a Pats fan you can only think, "yea he'll fit here".

Reminds me of someone I saw on Sunday from the Pats

I'd say his ball skills might be as big or bigger concern than height. Touches a lot of balls but not a lot of TO's. Now Im nitpicking to the highest degree here but Im just saying his height is not that big a deal for me

I've gotta be honest. This guy is probably the stickiest I've seen a cb play in a long time. It's seems like he is always in the receivers back pocket on every play. And to be real, his height doesn't scare me as much unless he's going against a giant like a Calvin Johnson type mismatch. the qb is going to have make some perfect throws to get it passed him because of how tight he plays. So at least to me I have no problem putting him on a teams no. 1 guy if its like and obj or an amari cooper who are smaller receivers. I think he might be my favorite cb in this class.

I agree. Every mock I do for the pats has us taking vita vea and tanoh kpassagnon. Just such unique talents that could be ultimate chess pieces for a BB defense.

Add in budda baker and one of the thousand long CBs and that's my dream draft for the pats.

Big, mean, smart and athletic. For a guy that big, he can really move, but he moves with a lot of force. The game cut ups I have watched, I never saw anyone break a tackle from him. Not afraid to lay the thunder on the outside or across the middle. Not slow to react to the play around him, which allows him to always be around the ball. While that can be true of many college safeties, he also has the allure of being able to cover in man and in the slot. He doesn't look out of place at all in coverage.

I read he's a high 4.4 guy with great explosive number to go with it. If he tests out with numbers like that, he will go from unknown to top 75 pick.

He's definitely a first rounder. Best cover guy in this class.

31 teams should want him to help them stop us.

I really like this guy. Very interested to see how he runs. Looks like a 4.6 guy, but I am hoping he is a 4.5 guy.

He's jumped on the tape of Summers quite a bit who has some attitude as well.

He doesn't look like 4.4 on tape, but his closing speed is legit.

There is a clip out there of his coach basically calling him kam chancellor 2.0. That is high praise, but the physical skills are there.

If Harmon walks in FA I hope we can up grab him.. think Balesrieri also just tweeted about him..

Our traditional round 2 safety ?

So I went ahead and watched all of Joe Mixons tape on Draft breakdown and quite frankly I'm blown away.

I know Mixon has issues that are going to cause him to fall, but whichever team that takes a risk on him is going to get some serious talent on the cheap.

Personally I think hes the second-best back in the draft behind Fornette. He might be the best receiving back, or at least right there with McCaffrey.

Where he's better then Fornette, Cook, and McCaffery is his pass blocking abilities. He defines a true 3 down back. He's even a better blocker than some tight ends like Engram

When he run's it reminds me so much of LeVeon Bell. Paitent, and always keeping his feet moving. He has wonderful patience and often hits the hole a displays excellent burst for a man of his size. 6'1 230lbs.

Another thing to note, he only has 1 fumble in his career.

If Mixon does decide to declare, I think despite his off-field issues, he deserves a good look. Inserting him into this offense with his diverse skill set would put this offense on another level.

I suggest you watch some of the tape. impressieve stuff!!!

This is a video for Dede Westbrook, but it allows us to see more of his QB, and downfield blocking

He's a special talent and probably the best all around back in the class. The Bell comp's are real. He's extremely patient and lets his line work before he hits the hole. Great vision. He'll probably run 4.5 which is very good for 225. He is a 3 down back. This isn't breaking news.

The thing is we dont need him. Let someone else worry and handle him.

This offense has morphed and been molded a 100 X's over during the B & B era. From ruuning and play action. Open man. Moss/Welker, 2 TE and over and over.

The offense can change on a dime and thats one, if not our of our biggest strength. And that allows us to not be tied down to anyone.

Their are many other guys in the draft that can help take the offense to another level so to speak. Too many to list here.

Also Mixon is a 3 down back but at least by PFF wasn't top 5 in pass pro. Their not the gospel just a resource and another pov.

Btw Evan Engram might be the best blocking wr in the class. He has 3 years of great blocking at all levels.

I'm doing receivers now and a guy I like is Taywan Taylor. He's going to blow up the combine. Sub 4.35, 39+vert, 11+ broad jump type stuff. (Speaking of we need a freak thread? Binky thread?)

Anyway Im watching him and can't help but be drawn to Lamp. The guy is is clean and fluid. Not the biggest arms but hes so clean. Great kick slide.

You could easily put him inside but that isn't exactly taking full advantage of his capabilities.

Guy looks like a huge T.E. 6'4 300. Carries it so well.

Also LF7 is about to take a hit. Up until now there was nothing but positive things.
