"Some coaches" want to outlaw jumping over line to block kick

In that first picture, look at the Seahawk just to the right of the jumper. What is he doing to the offensive lineman? That has to be unsportsmanlike conduct. Lol.
I'm baffled if they didn't at least call illegal penetration on the defense.

In typical Washington Post fashion, the writer doesn't back up their claim about coaches wanting it outlawed.

What's next? A penalty for embarrassing the opponent by exhibiting exceptional athletic ability and hurting their feelings?

? They have an unidentified league official off the record telling them the play will be reviewed by the comp committee to see if the clause about "landing on another player" should be removed, thus outlawing the play; and they have a coach on the record saying why: he thinks it's dangerous and should be taken out of the game.

In NFL Logic this would make sense, a couple of butthurt HC's are upset about what might happen to them in a future game instead of figuring out how to defend it or use.. their brains hurt.

The Pats may never use it again for the rest of the year, but there is always the fear it might happen and that can be unnerving to some placekickers who are at best described as "fragile"...

THIS is OK.

THIS is not.

I wonder why....hmmmmm...gonna need some help here......

Just a little ticklin of the gooch, nuthin to see here.

It's fun and exciting but an unnecessary bad injury waiting to happen.
Are you referring to football in general or that play in particular? It is an apt description of both.

It will be a new rule change in the off season.. I hope they don't change it though. It makes it more fun.

Seriously. Its an exciting play. Some of these guys are world-class athletes. They should be embracing these types of plays that showcase their talent -not calling them into question.

And the league wonders why it has a ratings problem.

It's called "checking his oil". Typically you want to wait until at least the second date to perform that maneuver.

The odd thing about this all is that Kam Chancellor is the one who opened the floodgates for this in 2014 playoffs despite this being done in the past successfully but not as often as it is now, which is almost becoming a regular occurence.
Didn't Jamie do it before Kam?

A couple of Tucker's kicks were very close to the upright the other night. I think it did affect him - and to the person complaining in the game thread about not saving it until the end of the game - there is one possible rationale.

I think arians complained about this a few weeks back.

The article specifically quotes Arians.

“It’s bad for football,” Cardinals Coach Bruce Arians said earlier this season, after Seattle’s Bobby Wagner jumped over Arizona’s line to try to block a kick. “Because what you’re going to have to do now is start having centers raise their face up and get kicked in the face. And things that are just dangerous to the players. I think it’s a dangerous play as it is and should be taken out of the game.”

He goes on to explain why this play and teams who control the weather should be penalized.

Without NYFL career toady Jeff Fisher on the competition committee to rubber stamp the agenda, who will fill the function?

that answer is simple...THE RETURN OF MIKE KENSIL!

"aha!!!! Got ya!!! I told you I'd get ya Belechick!! I quit my multimillion dollar position as President of the NY Jets to work undercover for peanuts for NFL office3s but I GOT YOU!!! Hah Ha Ha!! "

is there a dumber goddamned moron in the United States than shyt eater Kensil? I mean it...someone should inform this idiot that we KNOW what he did and we all think he's dumber than 10 bags of beach sand at the North Pole.
