OT: Cards release Michael Floyd

The guy is talented for sure but... IMO it sets a bad precedent this year. It's like unofficially telling the players on the roster here there are no ramifications for driving under the influence.

I really hope this is just trolling on your part.

SIGN THE BEAST!

Big fan of his from his College days when he was one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Knows a good chunk of our terminology and concepts, coming into his prime, produced consistently at the level.

What's not to like!?

No why? You don't think that sets a bad precedent? IMO if you want to bring him in and give him a second chance do it next year.

I would be shocked if he could even get anywhere near prepared to play in the offense here. In Arizona they pretty much run a number route tree passing scheme, here it its defensive recognition route adjustments. Just my .02 cents.

Teams have ~24 hours to put in a waiver claim, and I imagine they'll do due diligence here.

Remember: Edelman was arrested for indecent assault in 2011, and wasn't cut.

We are giving one to Griff Whalen.
Understood. But I have Whalen penciled in as our returner. Floyd can't do that. More importantly, imagine the issues this guy must have for the Cards to release him outright. Would be a bad apple in a basket of near-perfect Honeycrisps (Branch even gave up Weed).

Well you aren't bringing him in to give him a second chance out of kindness, you are doing it because he can help you win, and now is the time he is available.
Why would bringing in a player who can help you win set a bad precedent?

I have no illusions that Whalen is any better at returning punts than whoever else we would put out there.

Why not release him? They are done this year, his contract is up, and it gives Ariens a chance to send a message to his underachieving team.

Agreed, but there was a bunch of conflicting stories and evidence with Edelman. This guy slept thru at least 2 light changes and told at least 5 different versions of why he wasn't drinking then was drinking only a little then he couldn't remeber how much.
I love the guys talent and I would give him a second chance but next year with a fresh start.

And Ty Law and Kevin Faulk were both caught with weed. And Chandler Jones showed up at the police station naked and high.

No thanks, he's been getting progressively worse, I would rather see them stick with their own guys, and he doesn't contribute on special teams so he wouldn't even be active.

Why is his problem so bad you don't want him today, but by march it will be fine? Am I missing something?

Of course it doesn't set a bad precedent. That ship has sailed.

IMO if you want to bring him in and give him a second chance do it next year.

If you're willing to bring him in next year, you'd be an idiot for not bringing him in this year just because of a DUI arrest.

We are short on WRs, but I'm curious to know if there's more to the story behind the Cardinals cutting him. His was an especially bad DUI, but I still don't think they cut him if that's the main issue. More likely, IMO, is that there are other issues that haven't been reported yet. Wouldn't mind giving him a look this offseason if it's not too damning, but it's probably too late in the year for him to be a significant asset anyway.

First BB sends away top defender because he's “freelancing“ on the field .. then he signs a WR his buddie just cut for getting drunk on the flight back from the game .. sending a strong message of trust to his WR corps and of principle to the rest of the team that just got over the Collins thing ..

like will not clear waivers plus i dont see pats touching him due to DUI stuff+ WR coming in late to learn offense. maybe they will try him out, who knows.

You don't believe in 2nd chances? I just think bringing him in now 1. Sets a bad precedent for the guys here this year. 2. Becomes a distraction that has to be dealt with and 3. He most likely won't be able to pick up the complexities of the passing schemes here this year.

Bring him in next year, lay down ground rules and give him an off-season to see if he can even pick up the offense here.

BTW it's only my opinion. They're are going to do what they are going to do.

See my response to Andy Johnson.

Pats will win without him.
