You don't cut Jones. He's a dynamic talent who is struggling big-time in a particular aspect of the game. I'd take him off punt and kick returns and have him focus on playing CB. At that point in the game, BB should have put Edelman in there with strict instructions to fair catch the ball. The only way Baltimore could have gotten back into that game was by turnovers, so the objective at that point should have been to take no risks. Just fair catch it with the surest pair of hands you have.
But if the Pats need a huge return, and can live with the risk of a turnover, then I'd put him in there and tell him to go for it.
Wes Welker off the street, let him fair catch every time. That was brutal. And he did do the SAME thing twice in the game (one time he sort ran to a ball and barely jumped over it barely avoiding a fumble that time) That kid is done in that role.
he wasn't the one who touched the ball though. And he did not sheepishly run over towards it, hesistate, then toe tape it towards his own goal and watch the other team fall on it, then two hand touch the guy down on his own 2.Oddly enough Wes Welker had pretty much the same issue in the 2013 Pats-Broncos game that cost Denver the game

Jones is a good player who has severe confidence issues right now
Cutting him would be stupid
what has he done to earn the label "good player"?
All i've seen him do is drop balls, and get beat bad in coverage.
You can't blame slaters fumble on jones that is ridiculous. Was Brady's int jones fault too?Oy I wanted him cut last night, but I guess he deserves a chance to develop as a CB. He should not be put out there again to return a punt or a kickoff under any circumstances for the remainder of this year. Surprised he got so many chances last night, and I put the Slater fumble on him too as Matthew would not be doing that kick return if Jones could be trusted to just knee the ball in the EZ or go down on first contact. Hopefully Whalen can return punts, and the combo of White and Lewis (or Bolden) on kickoffs looked like a much better option.
