Oakland Raiders vs Houston Texans MNF

Didn't Obrien go for a 4th down in a tie game in easy FG range? That sounds like playing to win. Its not 'playing not to lose' to have a suck-ass defense that cant cover anyone and allows something like 5-6-150 in the 4th quarter
No one can explain to me the punting with 3:00 left with on TO left on a 4th and 5.

With that said, this call - unlike those calls against the Broncos last year - was blatant cheating. I mean, that's clearly irrefutable evidence on the video, and you don't change the call? Only one explanation remains.

Even with Houston being robbed of a win, your team still won't leapfrog them for the division, and they'll be on the outside looking in for the 2nd consecutive year. Why has Luck, and your entire team for that matter, struggled so mightily since Deflategate? They seem to really suck when being forced to play with regulation inflated footballs.

That's easy. He trusts his defense more than his offense. Wouldn't you, if that was your team?

Kick, use timeout of first down, 2 minute warning on second, stop them on 3rd and get a shot with 1 minute plus left, maybe more because many teams would throw on 3rd and long, vs. game over if you go for it and don't get it.
Neither is a great thing, but there are arguments on both sides.

Haha, no.

NFL VP defends officiating amid public clamor

"He's going to go into the defender, use his forearm to push off, extend his arm and create separation," Blandino said. "This is a foul for offensive pass interference. Whether he uses the forearm or an open hand, the key is the extension, the extended arm into the defensive player to create that separation."

Anybody who calls these missed calls is a blatant homer. The Broncos deserved that win, and they were clearly the better team last year. Stop crying and move on, there were both correct calls.

lol..

Coming with Blandino to make your case about botched calls is a bold strategy.

Not when his argument perfectly matches the tape and the rules.

I'd rather get a decent draft pick anyway. Also, Luck is having a decent season with that horrific offensive line.

Playing QB is so easy even a caveman can do it

I think BB punts in that situation. But I also think BB challenges the FIRST bad spot, and if not at least kicks the FG to take the lead.

I bet BB doesn't punt in that situation. 4th and 5 with 3 minutes left 1 time out and the 2 minute warning. I mean it was tough call but you had to go with your gut.

Tough call. Could go either way

For five yards though?? Regardless the offense was going to have to win the game for them at some point. They had the ball close to mid field, so you probably weren't going to have much better field position than right then at that moment. You definitely wouldn't want to count on Derek Carr turning the ball over.

Why on Earth would they rather trust Brock with near a full field with one minute left rather than just gaining five yards, and having three minutes to work with at mid field? It's just mind boggling to me.

If you're Seattle with Russell Wilson I understand this. I don't understand this when you have Brock Osweiler.

Either decision is supportable

holy molly, the raiders are 8-2.

I'm just saying that I can see a justification the move. That being said, I wanted him to go for it, too, because the defense had been good, but it hadn't been a whole lot of 3-and-out good. I just see where one could reasonably make that move, given what that team has for a QB.

I don't think Billy is a good coach. He is ultra conservative.. of course his QB doesn't help matters much because he sucks and they should not have signed him. Its all about coaching and QB'ing.. 60% on the QB 40% on the Coaching staff.. not counting the GM position.

Salty donkey players are the last people who should be complaining about a rigged game.(even though it was)

Broncos stars suggest Raiders cheated, NFL staged MNF

They just "won" a game where their player clearly stepped out of bounds and wasn't overturned after review. Not to mention the Pats/Broncos regular season game last year, which was abominable.

Don't worry like @Gallo said Blandino explained all of this. It's just a big misunderstanding on our part. The officials got it all right.. /s

Not when his argument perfectly matches the tape and the rules.

I'd be inclined to agree if there was any consistency in enforcing those rules. In reality we have seen proper bearhugs on potential final plays of a game that were not called because "you let them play at the end". Sorry but the league can't have it both ways if they want the benefit of the doubt.

And the Chung call was only the tip of the iceberg. I still remember the SI (maybe ESPN ?) cover with Brock on it after the game where you could see on of the many clear holding infractions by the Broncos OL on the final drive of regulation that was uncalled.

That game was one of the biggest abominations in terms of officiating in prime time in a long time.
