Pete is a good coach for the right team, and Seattle is the kind of team he works well for. Obviously, things went really sour here because that wasn't the kind of team that fit his "player's coach" style. The inmates took over and that was that. Skip over the coach and go ***** to Bobby behind his back. The culture aftershock of going from Bill Parcells to Pete was about as drastic as it gets. They are polar opposites. Looking back now, it was the ultimate recipe for disaster.
So yea, im sure Pete got plenty of personal satisfaction out of coming here and getting that win last night, and he's definitely taking his proverbial victory lap today. Whatever, he earned it.
That aside... man it sucks to admit this, but he's not lying. Having been to my fair share of stadiums over the years, our crowd these days just doesn't stack up well. I think it's a combination of a lot of things, but mostly (for me at least), a lot of us blue collar types have just been out priced.
I was at Patriot Place on Saturday night. Did the normal stuff with younger kids. The Hall, 5-Wits, and dinner at CBS Scene. The SNF bus was there, Bradyland was crawling with "12's". I mean literally everywhere I looked there were Seahawk jerseys. You could just feel how big of a game it was for them.
Eating dinner, we were seated right next to an extended table of Seattle fans. About 20 of them. Nice people, and they knew their football. But even they were of the wine and cheese variety. You could smell the money coming off of these people.
At the end of the day, I guess that's just one of the prices of our unprecedented success. Games, especially big games, have become less and less accessible to us average Joe's who are more likely to get a bit more rowdy out there. It becomes more of a Special Event than a football game. From my perspective anyway.
