reading some Lombardi stuff about Jamie Collins

Mike Lombardi on Kirk & Callahan: Jamie Collins was traded because he’s not that good
And i found interesting qoute Lombardi made:
“I’ve said this to this kid before when I was here. ‘As good as we are, we go as you go.’

And if u check Jamie Collins interview
Jamie Collins surprisingly candid about trade to Cleveland - The Boston Globe
Jamie Collins clearly stated that he doesnt know Lombardi.

So one of them is lying.

BTW Here is intersting stuff on Lombardi and last years games

from 4:20
5:10 why they were running in last year Miami game
etc

Probably Collins...you kinda have to be PC when you're in the league.

All we have to really go on is his play and it never really lived up to expectations for any length of time.

So i would assume he was told about it and encouraged by someone when not living up to his potential.

Also someone can talk to you a few times and you say you don't know him and not be lying. Maybe you don't remember everyone who talked to you.

Seems like it would be a lot easier for Collins to lie and simply say "no" when asked if he knows him (that's all he said), as opposed to assuming Lombardi fabricated a conversation he once had with him.

I'm going to take Lombardi's comments with a grain of salt.

Collins.

I don't really care. This has become bigger than it had to be.

Collins, a great football player who gave us some incredible moments, was traded by BB because he didn't fit the team for some reason or another. Was it chemistry, was it a growing dispute? Does it matter?

I trust that BB made a decision he thought was best for the team but on the same token I also think and hope that Collins has a great future in this league. Nobody needs to be the bad guy or the victim.

He's not in the building anymore. What does he really know. I don't know, neither does he.
He was there when Collins was. He said weeks ago that he told Jamie they were as good as he wanted them to be. The first time he said that was not after the trade.

Roger Goodell will get to the bottom of this. Fines and suspensions will be forthcoming.
Ian and I are already working on a report. There is no timetable at the moment.

I can't find it now, but I swear we heard that specific story from Lombardi even before Collins was traded.

He said he didn't even know Lombardi which is a crock of ka-ka
Bingo. That was my point. So Lombardi told that he spoke to Jamie in mettings. And Jamie dont know the guy. He dont know the guy who is there in the meetings and talking to him??????

Lombardi with harsh words against pats defense this year. And he believes we are really hurting without chandler jones. I agree we have no real pass rushers on our d line anymore

Why do you guys find it so absurd that a multi-millionaire athlete like Jamie Collins wouldn't pay attention to and know some old white dude who wanders around the facility but is not one of his coaches? How many people on the Patriots would recognize Ernie Adams for example?

The problem with parsing comments through the press is that everyone takes what's said at face value, without context and without realizing that often the writers are trying to add spin at the same time. Similar to the way Lombardi has been saying that our defense is not good, he's trying to get listeners for his new podcast, he's trying to raise his profile on Fox, so of course he adds a good dose of hyperbole to what he says, otherwise it gets lost in the noise.

I'm aware of this. But Lombardi acting like he knows exactly why they traded Collins. He might be right, but he might be wrong. Who really knows.

I believe he doesn't know for a fact but, his understanding of their thinking is key. Remember, he traded Trent Richardson (who he didn't draft btw) when everyone thought it was an insane move.

So you're saying there's a lot of idiots around the NYJFL*. For that we can agree. :)

Bill Belichick has said before he wouldn't know who blew the coverage for another team. And so like how would an outsider like Lombardi know for sure? He doesn't. Sure he might have a better understanding but it's his opinion. So I'm going to take his comments with a grain of salt.

Maybe hes still keeping tabs on the last team Patriots and knows his Boss BBs game plan and strategy enough to know who blew a assignment I take Lombardi's word over Collins.
