NFL Week 10 Early Advanced 'Look-Ahead' Betting Lines: Patriots favored by 7.5 vs Seahawks

John Morgan

New England hosts Seattle on Sunday night in Week 10 on NBC. The Patriots-Seahawks Super Bowl rematch is the most enticing game of the week. The 7-1 Patriots are favored by just over a touchdown at home against the 4-2-1 Seahawks. This week Seattle hosts

Well, that should piss the Seahawks off. I think that's a bit high, myself. Understanding that they recently lost, they were a 4-1-1 team who had just held the opposition to 6 points on the road in a hostile environment.

As a matter of fact, they're trying to become the first defense in many, many years to lead the league in points allowed 5 seasons in a row. That's remarkable. For comparison's sake, the '69-'71 Vikings were the last NFL defense to do it THREE seasons in a row.

They seem to be having some issues on offense though, which is obviously where the 7.5 point spread factors into the public's perception.

Yeah, 7.5 seems way too high. I'd say Patriots by 4 points would be reasonable.

If you remove the typical homefield +3 on betting lines then you are essentially right at those 4 points. I don't think the betting lines are that far off personally. While still inconsistent at times no one has shown they can stop our offense so far and the defense has been playing at the very least pretty complimentary most of the time.

A win at home by one score doesn't seem too high to me.

youre in our house now!

The schedule makers did the Seahawks no favors. They play Mon night at home versus Buff before flying to Foxboro on Saturday to face a Patriots team coming off a bye. I wonder if that factored in to the spread, even a little....

Way too high. Best defense in the league playing the revamped/demoralized Pats defense. I'll take the 7.5 to the bank.

Have you seen the seahawks offense this year?? Brady has more rushing yards than Wilson. Wilson hasn't thrown a TD in 3 games, has only thrown for over 300 yards once this season and their rush offense is #28 in the league.

What are you basing the best defense on? Yards or PPG? Because i've been told PPG doesn't matter. Which then you are saying yards, which isn't the case, they are #6 in that category and their pass defense is #9 in the league.

As for the Pats having a revamped/demoralized defense. Well that's just asinine. The defensive scheme is not gonna change because Collins is gone and no way will be it be demoralized after nearly 2 weeks.

It's just another reminder how much the rest of the league sucks this year. Look at the slate of games coming up this week and ask yourself how many seem appealing. There's only two games between teams with winning records--Eagles at Giants, and Broncos at Raiders. Denver playing at Oakland is one of the few games in weeks probably that I'm sort of looking forward to.

That's a big line against Seattle, but who knows. The travel seems a bit unfair to them, to be honest (off a Monday night game to the east coast against the Pats with a bye). But man, Seattle's supposed to be one of the good teams...with health and decent execution, who's beating the Pats? The league SUCKS.

Ill take the 7.5 here. Pats will win.

The Seahawks offense is terrible there is zero excuse for the defense not to dominate this game

I hope - and I'm expecting - the defense to come out and play with more passion and more urgency. They've played too laid back at times this season. Rich Hill has a point when he pulled out this play and criticises the lack of a reaction:

Chung makes a great stop on 3rd down and there... is nothing. No reaction other than Harmon holding up his fist. I don't think Belichick likes seeing that, remembering the "A Football Life" series with him in the 2009 season where he in the initial team meetings at the start of the season bemoaned the lack of reactions by teammates when somebody made a huge play.

It's a tough spot for Seattle, us coming off a bye and them coming off a MNF game with a long, long trip.
