from BSPN web site:

"KC Joyner, NFL writer: New England leads the AFC in points allowed per drive for the season (1.4) and leads the conference in points scored per drive since Tom Brady returned (3.1). Pittsburgh may be the only AFC powerhouse offense that also has enough defense to overcome this combination."

Fewest points per drive is probably the most among the few most vital stats in analyzing an offense or defense.
Outside of turnovers, it pretty much encompasses everything that matters.

like so (make sure to delete everything after .gif):

The bend but don't break defense still has the bend but less break. Previously they would give up yards and points in exchange for less time on the clock. Remarkably the yds per game are about the same but points per game are down.

2014 344 ypg 19.6 pts per game, 2015 339 ypg, 19.7 pts per game 2016 347 ypg 15.1 pts per game

They are good stats. Comparing year to year or team to team is a little tougher. Probably would have to look at Strength of Schedule among a few other stats to put pts per game into perspective.
