For Peter King, Indy is now in jeopardy...

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

has Peter King changed his superbowl pick then? I remember him saying on the NFLN that he was picking the Colts; of course, that was before they had their two losses.

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

Don't let anyone of these analysts fool you, life is good in Indianapolis right now, World Champs.................

The Colts have starters injured, signed as FA's, and rookie replacements every year, nothing out of the ordinary. At the begining of last year we had maybe 6 Defensive starters out and Dwight Freeney playing defensive tackle, 9-0, Superbowl

I'm looking forward to all the fans and pundits who say, "Well, of COURSE they didn't repeat, look at all the injuries they had," and my head exploding soon thereafter.

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

They barely have enough guys on the depth chart to have an 11 man defense. To be honest I think they won't even win the AFCS.

The dominant theme of the Pats championship era was a Colts offense that was good enough to put them at 12-4, win their division, and drop 49 on the Broncos in the playoff.

They're good for 10-12 wins this year on that offense alone. We have the edge in our matchup this year, but they could easily still win, especially at home.

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

Gotta separate my intellect from my emotion here, very surprised if Peyton and crew do not make it deep into the playoffs..

Everyone I've talked to about this believes the Colts this year, if they make the playoffs, are a one-and-out team.

Just another perspective offered....

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

IMO, Indy's still going to be very, very tough. That O is world-class and they've been more than one-and-done with worse defenses in the past.

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

Personally, I don't really care what King thinks. He tends to fall in love with players or teams which cloud his judgement. He used to have such a huge man crush on Brett Favre that he used write about his dinner conversations with him in his column like he was a school girl telling her friends about her date with the captain of the football team. He had that man crush on the entire Patriots for a while too.

As for the Colts, I think they are going to have a tough time winning their division nevermind the Super Bowl. Both the Jags and Titans are teams on the rise. If Byron Leftwich can stay healthy and hold his crap together, the Jags could seriously contend for the AFC South.

Yes, their defense sucked last year, but it carried them in the first two games of the playoffs. Colts fans who write off the McFarland loss as no big deal because the defense sucked last year anyway have to remember that if it wasn't for McFarland and the defense vs. KC and Baltimore, the Colts probably don't win the Super Bowl and Manning's "Can't win the big one" rep would be at an all time high since he had five INTs and one TD in those two games.

Personally, I just think the Colts have lost too many starters (even before the season) to make a serious run.

after Mc Farland injury...
after Glenn retirement...

not so easy to repeat

are all those injuries really goimg to jeopardize their chances ?

it could be but still they are 'in the mix' imho

In "the mix for"... What? A battle for third place in the AFCS?

Jax, and then Tenn & Indy in a hot fight for second and third.

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

Of all the scribes that pretend to inform on the NFL, King is one of the few good ones. That being said, to try and make predictions (which is part of his job) at this time is pure folly.

Fact is, so much can happen between now and the SB to any and all teams. All predictions are best guesses as to how a team will finish on paper as of today. Nothing more.

The Colts have shown resilience over the past few years, and it would please us to have them be mildly competitive and experience a sound beating at the hands of the Patriots on November 4th and again in the playoffs. Given the way they've been able to draft quality players to fill holes, I can't count them out of anything just yet.

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

It was so much fun watching Indy choke in the playoffs for all those years. Unfortunately, that's all changed now. Peyton actually got it done. And did it against us! I think I know how the 2004 Yankee fans feel and it really sucks!

But it makes me realize how incredible winning three SBs in 4 years really was. And we also went pretty far in 2005 and 2006 to boot.

That having been said, we can hope that Indy finds it difficult to repeat (cuz it surely is!), but I think this upcoming season will be very exciting and very competetive.

Like everyone in NE, I am pumped about our new acquisitions and I believe we have a great shot at going all the way. But don't count out the Colts or the Bolts.

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

Personally, I have a hate-on for the Colts so I may be seeing things a bit cloudy, but the Colts seem to shaping up as wannabes this year. They lost too much from an already horrible D during the off season and with the recent news of the Glenn retirement and the McFarland injury it seems to me like the writing is on the wall.

Peyton is in for a long year. He might put up the stats but don't be surprised if Jax takes the division from them this year and the colts finish 9-7 or worse.
I agree. I believe the Colts are finally!-1-and-done like Pittsburgh the year before.

i think they have an advantage playing in a very weak division - it means that they should be able to reach the play-offs and, so, be 'in the mix'...

personally i agree with you

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

The Colts have a high scoring offense and play in a division with 3 teams that range from mediocre to weak.

They may be in jeopardy come January but as of right now they have nothing to worry about. They will walk to a division title.

Re: For Peter King , Indy is now in jeopardy...

personally i agree with you

King is a well-connected fool. He knows very little about the game itself despite being around it for all these years, insisting on ranking players and teams by their storylines.

Personally, I think that Breer, Tomase and Reiss all blow him out of the water.

The Jags are much better than you think and TN has some potential. I do think that Indy will win the division, but it won't be by more than two games.

TN lost every skill player on offense around Young and its best defensive player from a team that wasn't all that good to start with.

The Jags have 2 QBs, neither of whom the coach has any confidence in.

9 wins will be all it takes for Indy to win that division and their offense is too good for them not to get it.

The Colts are not going ANYWHERE anytime soon. Get used to it and buckle your seat belt and this whole thing will go a lot smoother
