They can cut him after 2017 pretty easily, so I guess that's the silver lining. They're 'only' really stuck with him for 2 years if he's as bad as he's looked.

Agree and disagree. I think there is something to be said for valuing a player at a certain level and not being willing to go above that. Much like how the Pats were willing to pay Revis pretty handsomely, but weren't willing to match the Jets, and knowing what we know now we're lucky we didn't sign him to the contract we were offering.

But yeah, your point is a good one. A lot of times this stuff comes down to luck as much as skill. The Broncos dodged a bullet with Osweiler.
