TE Clay Harbor released

On one hand, it kinda sucks to have a $1.1M cap hit for a 4-game special teams contributor. I'm still not really sure why he made the final 53, considering that he was apparently the TE4 and having him on the roster week 1 guaranteed his 900K base salary. I'm sure there's factors at play that fans on the outside aren't aware of, but I didn't understand that at the time and it looks even stranger now in hindsight.

OTOH, that's a sunk cost and if his spot is going to Reece then the team's getting better.

I doubt they thought Derby would flash. They want serious tight end/hback action.

I'm actually really surprised.... that he wasn't cut before the start of the season.

Dobson should be the one getting cut week 5!

Called it! Now to be doubly right, someone needs to go to IR for the other spot

Same here.

My money's on Cooper, although I hope not.

Can't believe the Pats released Harbor for that bum Brady to get a roster spot. Belichick is killing the team more and more every year.

BB the GM isn't exactly BB the coach

I thought it would be derby but not shocking

He has always regretted that decision to release Bernie Kosar in Cleveland. As a make up call, he is bringing back a broken down, 39-year-old QB. You have to admire Belichick's desire to placate a disgruntled fan base.

Not sure who Bill hates more. Mangini or Bernie. With that said, Bernie doesn't have any ill-will towards BB

I just cannot believe the hype this scrub was getting around here when James Develin is a superior player. I hope Jordan Richards is the next to go when Ninko comes back.

Why do we keep emphasizing Reece? Is he better than Blount or Devlin? Seems he would be redundant.

Harbor made out like a bandit on that deal.

BB really loves Jordan Richards I'm afraid.

I agree that that's why they likely got him in the first place, but Derby flashed in the preseason and they could've cut him in the final cutdowns to avoid guaranteeing his $900K base salary.

He and Blount play different positions, so that's not too relevant. He is not a better RB than Blount, but that's not really the point. Re: Develin, he isn't the lead blocker that Develin is, but he's a lot more versatile. Who is better depends on what role you're looking to fill. If the Pats sign Reece, I don't think they'd be signing him as a Develin replacement (and certainly not as a Blount replacement).

He signed with lions
Adam caplan

Giants are in need of tight ends
