Giardi: Garoppolo "extremely disappointed" he couldn't play Sunday

The Patriots expected him to play. Garoppolo didn't play. It sounds like it was 100% Garoppolo's decision to not play. These statements to Giardi smell like spin and PR.

I don't know how people are bashing Garopollo without being a doctor and without evaluating him themselves.

Great ?? Based on 6 qtrs???

He looked good.....over 16 games, who knows.....

He looks to be a starting caliber NFL QB...but GREAT ??????

If he ends up on another team, I'm sure we will be rooting for him unless he's playing for us ( or ends up a Jet) :)

I have no doubt that Jimmy and the trainers did everything they could to play yesterday. I refuse to question his pain tolerance or any of that nonsense.

What I do wonder is why the "rumors" on Jimmy's health were non-stop for two weeks while for Tom we didn't hear a peep about anything for 15 years.

They said all week it was going to be a game time decision. Based on all the tweets and reports from the week and Sunday morning my guess is they shot him up and asked him to make certain throws. My guess is he failed the team evaluation as far as what they needed him to do for the game. I don't think this was JG decision but more so a decision that he couldn't carry out the game plan.

Yet Favre and Pig Pen are the iron men and Brady is the ****y apparently

Aside from making up the assumptions that lead to your conclusion, do you have anything at all that backs this up?

My guess is this was a case of JG not having enough arm strength to be able to make the needed throws than a pain management issue. If so, kinda hard to blame the kid for that.
On the other hand even with less arm strength he couldn't have really done worse than a shut out.
This is the issue I had with yesterdays game. I totally understand being conservative with a young, easily confused QB, but calling a game plan that is so conservative it results in a shut out doesn't make sense either.
Honestly, there are many coaches in the NFL that would have called a normal game, like the Cowboys and Browns are doing with rookies, but I think we would have seen something like a 34-13 loss if that was done.

My only question is this:

The QB we actually started clearly wasn't 100% himself, could barely grip the ball and air mailed most throws.

How much worse could Jimmy G actually been?

Sorry, but Jimmy with a weakish arm is still better than Brissett with a torn up thumb. He should've played IMO.

Frankly, I didn't see any difference in Brissett's throws, so I don't think the thumb is a topic.

Well he did look much more impressive than Brady did in his original 2 starts...
