Report: Josh McDaniels Plans To Leave Patriots, Pursue Head-Coaching Job In 2017

I hope he stays, he's the perfect replacement for Belichick. Maybe they can come to some sort of agreement, coaching for 3-5 more years, then take over for Belichick.

Maybe we go 19 and 0 and BB and Brady ride off into the sunset together.

Josh Mcd and Jimmy G

The interview he just had certainly doesnt sound like he plans to leave anytime soon.

He said he loves working for Belichick as long as BB will let him.

Put this in the lets throw crap against the wall and see if it sticks pile.

Seriously?

Doing the right thing by dumping Cutler was independent of the mistake of drafting Tebow.

Partly, I was being entirely flippant.

Partly, I was disagreeing with the idea that Cutler made the Chicago option somehow cooler (to us fans) than the others.

Understood - I just thought it would be funny to see them together again - briefly - after the divorce last time. That kind of thing cracks me up.

I think it would be a fatal career mistake for anyone to leave the Pats at this point. What better job could there be but this one? O or D coordinator.

It's a primo job and one that lets you to exploit your abilities to the max.

I hope he at least goes to a team that needs a QB. That way he can pay us a ton for one of our backups. Since he's much more familiar with them than some QB in the draft.

If Josh does leave. I hope he goes to the Titans to save Marcus from Mike Mularkey.

Let's also hope Josh's replacement is already on the staff. A promotion from within is much better than an outside hire.

If he leaves that makes Matty P the heir apparent. If both of them leave it's a good indicator BB has told them he's not quitting any time soon.

I am not buying a report this early in the season since we have no way of knowing what jobs will be available, but I bet he will try his hardest to bring Garoppolo with him wherever he goes.

It makes sense, Belichick is not hanging them up tomorrow and MacDaniels can cash in now. Great OC, hate to see him go but wish him all the luck in the world until it runs into the Patriots interests.

That's a recipe for ending up like every other coach in the NFL. The biggest thing Bill has proven is the importance of total control of the system.

The Broncos, the Ravens and the Steelers have done okay with a division of responsibilities. Belichick is a rare individual who can handle both the GM and HC duties.

The opposite is also true. If he does go to a team that needs a QB and doesn't trade for Jimmy G, that might give other teams, interested in Jimmy, pause.

I would miss Josh's excitement and enthusiasm on the sideline. His excitement at Brissett's TD was fun.

Just because someone is a great coordinator doesn't mean they have what it takes to be a good head coach, regardless if that's what they aspire to. We've seen this before.
