Foster was a RB for his first 3 college seasons. I'm not going to waste my time hunting down other sites for numerical accuracy, because my use of Wikipedia is just to show his getting rushing attempts:

Ok, there still isn't much evidence that he can run. He didn't look that great running in the preseason. He went undrafted. I like Foster too but I don't see any reason to expect he can be a good 3 down RB.

New Orleans just ate a $7 million dead money hit to dump Spiller, and they're not a stupid organization. That's a very, very bad sign about his ability to contribute.

Foster hasn't taken one snap in the NFL and he's better than Spiller? I'm guessing you're assuming Spiller is still the banged up mess he was the last 2 seasons. But Chris Long was also a banged up mess the last 2 seasons which is why they got him for nothing. Belichick took a smart flyer on him, now Long has returned to form and the team is reaping the benefits. I see a similar opportunity with Spiller.

I feel like they released because he was too expensive (Which is acceptable). I do think he is at least as good as Blount running (I, personally, don't trust him) and better receiving.

You're not paying attention. He was a running back his first three years in college, also ran well here during the preseason when not shelved by injury. I don't know if he blocks well in the backfield but the kid is quick and elusive. I'd like to see what he can do.

Uh, actually, Foster is a RB who converted to WR for his final season of college, and entered the draft as a RB, and continues to be a RB for the Patriots...

They traded Jimmy Graham so they're certainly capable of making a stupid move.

Why would you cut a versatile tight end for a third-down RB who at this stage of his career probably doesn't play special teams? I'm beginning to suspect you're a fantasy football enthusiast.
