I think Palmer was rattled by the shots he took midway through the game. That, plus good coverage (minus Fitzgerald) is pretty much the recipe for how you shut down immobile QBs, and he was lucky that he didn't end the game with a couple of picks. I don't think it was a bad game by Palmer as much as a strong game by the Pats' D.

I didn't even think his deflategate statements were that bad--he basically acknowledged he had no idea what the **** he was talking about--but I'm still pretty pleased that he was put in his place.

Collinsworth may have actually had a good point (like a blind squirrel finding a nut) when he said that by giving the Cards the 4-5 yard underneath routes and taking away the long stuff, they eventually show that they lack the patience to march methodically down the field a few yards at a time and instead Carson Palmer tries to force passes into tight windows.

Forcing the issue kind of worked only when Fitzgerald was the target. That dude was amazing.
