Gronk's still dealing with the hammy issue (3 weeks now). Hopefully it's just a matter of gamesmanship, but if not, I'd rather err on the side of caution with him. It's pretty self-explanatory how critical Gronk is to our season. Luckily, now we have Bennett who can we can lean on as a legit TE threat if/ when Gronk needs a breather or God forbid suffers an injury. All in all, if Gronk can go; GREAT, but if not, stash him until he's ready (like 2013 IIRC) when he came back week 7 against the Jests.

I think he will play and look fine. No way his hammy is that bad after all this rest. If he can't or stands a particularly high chances of hurting himself badly if he plays of course sit him out but i don't think that will be the case.

Gronk "may" be in against the birds.

if the pats win without brady or gronk, the cards can mail in the season

I think we can win without Gronk if needed. Our defense will be the key.

I just clicked on this thinking there was an actual update on his status in the thread somewhere.

Can you change the title so others don't make the same mistake? It could read something like "I'd rather Gronk not play if he's really hurt".

Maybe an injured Gronk is why they are still carrying four TEs.

I really want our D to come up big this season. I don't want them to just be good, I want them to be feared. I wasn't pass rushers coming from all over the place scaring the **** out of QBs and making them make mistakes like crazy. I want to see a fierce D like in 2003 & 2004. This way, we can afford to miss Brady for 4 games, and Gronk if need be. Personally, I agree, I'd be surprised to see Gronk out there, and if he is, might just be as a decoy. Don't mess with hammy injuries, those can end your season or cause you to miss a ton of games. Get that thing healed, and then dominate.

So funny how Gronk is the only one on the team who talks about what is injured and what % healthy he is and how he has a say if he plays or not.

That and they are hedging their bets with Derby. He could be another Dudfeld

If Pats lose, BB made the wrong decision either way I'm sure...

To me if we win this game, it'll be because the defense showed up big. So Gronk getting an extra week to heal might not be so bad.

Exactly. I'd consider using him sparingly though, especially in the redzone.

Do we really have to go through this crap again ? I thought him coming back after one missed game last winter finally shut all of those "Gronk Inc." people up.

He tweaked that thing on August 15. Monday will be 4 weeks. I'm beginning to think he's never going to be 100% healthy again. Waiting for that may be like waiting for Godot.

If the hammy isn't 100% I would not play him, no need to make matters worse and better to have him healthier later in the the season. Particularly in a game that is going to be very difficult to win.

Im not saying they cant win. Im not saying Gronk will ever be 100% healthy, just the hammy.

Depends on how bad it was. If it was just a tweak and he thinks he can go full speed, let him go. If it's still significantly hampering him, let him ride the pine until it's ready. The last thing the Pats need is for that thing to pop.

If he didn't make the trip, then he's not playing. End of discussion. Nyaaaghh!
So crap! I gotta pull him out of FF lineup. Pfffft!
