Why are we doing joint practices with the Bears? I really don't get it. Should stick to doing them with coaches worthy of respect who have a demonstrated ability to control their teams. John Fox is not that guy, never has been.

Joint practices are the 1st 2 weeks of preseason games. Then the 3rd week resembles what a real NFL week would be like and then the 4th week BB has pretty much the 53 in mind so it's just really a showcase for guys that will be getting cut. So there are no joint practices the last 2 weeks

So basically because the Bears are the Week 2 game, that's why it was them

He has a point.

i just wonder if there is a spot for him on the team. his play since the super bowl has gone downhill. he was awful in the afccg, basically telegraphing the snap count.

Yes, but the teams themselves have a say in who they play in the preseason. The Patriots have played the Saints 4 times since 2010, and the Giants continuously this millennium. The NFL assigns games when the Patriots don't have an existing game scheduled already with another team.

Basically, I'm surprised the Patriots wound up with the Bears for week 2. All things being equal I assume he would have preferred Chip Kelly instead like last year, but no one wanted to make a cross-country flight for a preseason game with the 49ers.

Well that's been talked about a ton and something that even decent coaching would fix. Not really an issue in figuring out his worth going forward.

Teams don't have to have joint practices--didn't used to happen much at all.

And the Pats won't be having another with the Bears for a long time, I'd wager.

Some say that Andrews has had the edge to date, and the separation can only be greater after today. But the physical comparison is pretty one-sided, with Stork being the bigger, stronger specimen. Stork also offers greater flexibility, as he can play anywhere on the line. Reliability gets a huge value in Foxboro, however, so I would not be surprised to see Andrews get the nod, in which case Stork could be be a surprise trade candidate.

Gotta say I thought the line play was way better with Andrews at center. And Stork has had issues.

I think he's made an attempt to control his temper... but... sometimes it's just the way you're wired...

Hmmm, has Fox kicked any Bears players out of practice?

I expect the Bears will suffer self-discipline problems during regular season games, when it counts.
Makes sense. They're led by Cutler, the poster boy for lack of self-discipline. Didn't the catch him on camera smoking a camel on the sidelines during a game once?

Sheard now is a bit concerning to me. He tweaked something in the game last Thursday. They briefly checked his lower leg, but if memory serves, he returned to the game. But he has now missed three straight...color me unhappy with that.
Someone said it was lower back

photoshop caught cutler smoking many times. like here:

a site dedicated to the meme:

Smokin' Jay Cutler

love the subtitle of the site:

This site is dedicated to the most apathetic looking athlete in the history of sports.

Vollmer is beyond concerning to me now. Has he been on the practice field even once?
I'd love to know what the actual numbers have been over the past several years but it seems like eaxh year about half the guys who start on PUP end up stayin on it by the end of camp.

They don't but Belichick likes them
