2016 Training Camp - Day 4

I had good feeling about the Nate Washington's signing but with Dobson - Mitchell and Lucien doing well I have a hard time seeing Washington cracking the line-up now. Also WR's Chris Harper and DeAndre Carter are having good camps we finally have a lot of decent bodies at WR.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but it's way too early in camp to think Nate can't earn his way onto the team, though it will be difficult. He still has game left...just ask Butler. Lol

Seriously though, I can see a situation where if it comes down to Washington or Lucien with comparable training camp performances, they'll keep Washington because of his experience in the league and try to sneak Lucien past waivers. This, of course, is just my own speculation. I honestly think both face a major uphill battle. I still think Dobson has a better chance than both for various reasons. And I would love to see Keyshawn Martin make the team as well. The WR position is a crowded one.

Too early to write off Washington. He's a vet that has had a lot of success, and recent success at that, in this system. Dobson, meanwhile, has been injury prone and has been hesitant to put his body on the line. Mitchell and Lucien are both rookies and Mitchell is still learning the system as well as the position.

If he continues to be on the sidelines much longer he'll be a write-off. Can't make the club from the tub.

His signing looked like camp body and insurance from the get-go. The way the WR corps has looked so far in camp they can cancel that insurance policy and put the premiums to better use somewhere else, like extending Butler or Gronk.

Supposedly he was vomiting in Day 1. May just be something as innocuous as him being sick. I do agree, though, that you can't make the club from the tub. I expect him to be back on the field soon enough which is why I say that it's too early to write him off just yet.

Pat Kirwan breaks down, unfortunately too briefly, what he saw at practice yesterday.

Of course, the big issue is Tom Brady’s suspension, but I liked what I saw from Jimmy Garappolo. He has really good feet, he can move, he can escape, he sets up quickly, and he has a quick release. The slant game and the check down game looked good as well, and those will be big pieces of the offense in the opening weeks.

So will the 2-tight end offense. Martellus Bennett and Rob Gronkowski are capable of aligning in all kinds of combinations, in-line or flexed out. That points to a return of the no-huddle, even with Garappolo, who was practicing it while we were there.
