the Clay Buchholz DL thread.

I say that he will have been on it at least once by Memorial Day.

I'll take "Things that will happen in July" Alex.

Im taking July as well. July 18th

He will blow out his arm on the first pitch then come back in 20 years for buchholtz day throw out his first pitch, making sure to put suntan lotion on it, and then blow out his elbow again

Just getting him into April is a major victory for the Saux. I agree with AntItsGood…….3 consecutive losses and trainers will find an excuse to DL him.
Dombrowski has total ownership of this guy. In terms of cost, I get why DD took on Clay's option….but despite the "cheap" (lol) contract, losing your #2 for the probable DL stint shows how desperate and hamstrung this team is with so many awful contracts that eliminate real options for real starters. Cherington really effed over this team for years. What a waste of hundreds of millions of dollars

If CB puts up wins in double digits and is healthy and pitching well in September, it was a good season for him. But if he cannot put up those wins- in the #2 slot -and be there when it counts...move on.

as soon as he pitches well they should trade him immediately. before hes on the dl again.

he pitched well today...but we have seen this before. fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a third time and im just stupid. Fool me a forth time and i give up.

this year is his forth chance.

Never mind the DL ... he's not likely to last to the trade deadline ...
If I could package Bucholz-Swihart-Young for a legit left fielder I'd do it in a minute.
Add more pop to a solid lineup and get Holt back to being the super sub where he belongs.
Bring up Castillo and he's the 4th outfielder as he can play all 3 outfield positions.
Henry Owens is not ready and E-Rod is coming back ... can Buchholz now.
Wright is a solid #5 innings eater and does not belong in the bullpen.
Price - Porcello/E-Rod - Kelly - Wright with Owens 1st one up if needed.

Steven Wright is amongst the league leader in ERA; should have more wins than he does. He belongs in the starting rotation.

This just in...Buchholz still sucks.

Buchholz holding onto E-Rods spot till he comes back...maybe next week (Im dreaming, they wont drop Buchholz)

It would be best for the Red Sox to trade #11. He's not a winner. It's just the same ole story...for the past 3 years. When I heard him exclaim that he thought he might have been traded- about a week, ago, in an interview -it told me that he has no confidence...almost expects the team to get rid of him. Perhaps, the team should stop touting his "great stuff" and start pointing at how he puts the team in a position to lose more often than not?

If the team "stop(s) touting his 'great stuff' and start(s) pointing at how he puts the team in a position to lose more often than not", how does that improve the prospects for trading him, which is your original suggestion? Sorry, but that makes no sense.

no. nobody has. he's in the bullpen not on the dl.

Didn't know that, thanks. I was in New England over the weekend and saw the back of the Herald with a picture of Buchholz that read "Finally" or something like that, and just ass-umed that he was sent to the DL.
