According to Volin, Amendola will make just $1.6 million this season, waiving good-bye to $4.4 million just for the ability to catch passes from Tom Brady for another season and hopefully be a part of helping this team win another championship.

Thanks for the nice account of Danny. He deserves it.
But I wouldnt put it that he gave up or waived goodbye to the money simply because with NE it was not guaranteed (and they clearly showed what they were really willing to pay him) and we dont know what he could get elsewhere at this point. In any case keeping Danny for 1.6 and not bringing Sanu&co for 5+ - so better, more versatile player with perfect fit and connection with TB plus proven character instead of some prospect from outside that costs 3-times the money - thats what I call great team managing.
