Per Schefter: Tom Brady not ready to accept court ruling today. Mulling options with legal team.

Not really. But the real question is what are the odds of him winning at this point? Glad he's going down swinging, but the odds of winning just fell down dramatically today. Best we can almost hope for is forcing a pyrrhic victory for the NFL.

Not for nothing, but i swore everyone was saying there was no way the NFL would get Berman's ruling overturned last September.

At the end of the day, no one knows what will happen.

Did anyone expect anything different?

I've come to fear the worst.

From everyone except Brady, sure. Brady and his legal team are the only ones in this whole farce that have consistently done the right thing.

How realistic is defamation considering he lost the previous trial? I mean, even if Goodell in the eyes of the law is somehow right they could still be guilty of knowingly slurring him couldn't they?

He can't really file a defamation suit until after he serves the suspension as part of winning a defamation case lies in proving financial damages...

Florio thinks they should pursue a full rehearing especially since filing the rehearing itself is a temporary and automatic stay of the suspension. Maybe that is what they have in mind.
IANAL but my understanding is they have 2 options (obviously this does not include accepting the punishment or working out a deal):

1) Request full hearing ("en banc")
2) Appeal to USSC

The appeals have to be done in the above order. In other words, if they appeal to the USSC, they forfeit their right to en banc, so it makes sense to pursue en banc before appealing to USSC. It's like giving yourself an extra bullet, albeit they are all long shots.

Not necessarily. You can file a defamation lawsuit based on being subject to public ridicule, derision, etc.

Can a fan file a defamation suit because I find Goodell an insult to my intelligence?

Don Yee is a major contributing factor to the narrative out there. He has given Brady some of the worse advice I have ever heard and seen. If you have destroyed your phone, of what use is it to reveal not only that you have, but when you did it?

The battle is not over 4 games and has not been for a long time. Brady has to go to the mattresses to defend his legacy. This can and should involve civil legal action against the NFL and others who have defamed him.

The court said Goodell had the right not that Goodell was right.

Eh, two of the judges decided not to do their homework. Non-zero percent chance that the judge in a defamation suit is another lazy moron who got to his position based on connections and not wisdom.

Sorry, with each passing day my faith in humanity gets lower and lower.

Goodell and his gang green cronies belong in prison. I'm not convinced Goodell is smart enough to avoid charges if Brady is able to get a defamation suit rolling.

Just the threat of taking this to court might be enough, most cases are settled before they ever go to trial. Brady has the money and the temperament to fight this to the end.

Normally I would agree but in this case it genuinely isn't about the money. This isn't some impoverished family of 5 happy to take $750,000.

Makes me feel bad for people who don't have that kind of money and have to just suck it up. It's a messed up system.
