Hey all, I was wondering if anyone's every heard of a #2 team in the market for a quarterback, in a scenario with two viable quarterbacks, offering the #1 team money if they draft a specific quarterback instead of the other. Sure, this #2 team could just trade up for their guy, but maybe they want to avoid dealing picks or paying #1 money when #2 might get a little less. Is this legal? And, more importantly, has this ever happened?

I only ask because I wonder if the Eagles could send a million to the Rams if they pick Goff, leaving Wentz to the Eagles. Or vice versa.

That sounds pretty illegal and bizarre but the draft deal that brought Eli Manning to New York was pretty shady as well.

The NFL offices missed that one..shadiest f...ing deal ever.

"Ahhchie" wanted him to be "Broadway Eli"...

Dont know the answer but i do know both the rams and eagles got absolutely hosed in their trades. Titans fleeced the rams and really set themselves up for the future. Both goff and wentz will be 2 of the lowest-rated qbs to ever be drafted in the 1st round. Thats why both eagles and rams are laughinstock franchises. Yeah you need a franchise qb. but if youre using a top 5 pick, you better be damn sure youre getting one. maybe those guys will surprise evryone, but i doubt it. so if they dont pan out, now youve set your team back even further. go with the best player. wait on the qb until you can get a legit one. Hell, he MIGHT even be there in the 6th round.

I've always believed that there were more than a few palms greased in that one. I can only imagine the reaction if the Patriots were involved in that type of dirty deal. Executions would have been in order...

Red Auerbach sent the ice capades to Rochester for a while when he had the #2 pick. In return, they passed on Russell at #1. That's the NBA but similar to what you ask.

And Red ended up with the greatest basketball player of all time. Not a bad deal.

Another good one was the deal that got them Robert Parish so they would drop down in the draft and pick Kevin McHale instead of Joe Barry Carroll.

Picking Larry Bird as a junior eligible was pretty slick too.

Anyway, what was the topic again?

Talk about a good draft for the C's in '56 - Bill Russell, K.C. Jones and Tommy Heinsohn - that's grand theft!!!

I don't know anymore. Just wondering if the NFL allows sending money instead of picks. Got talking about NBA stuff - I guess the NBA has traditionally been more corrupt haha. But the NFL under Goodell is giving the NBA a run for its money.
