There's gotta more to this, off the field problems or something. He was an elite interior pass rusher last season and the injury supposedly wasn't major, just too close to the end of the season to keep him on the roster.

He did have a video on Instagram a few weeks ago of him driving like an idiot, so I can't say anything along those lines would be terribly surprising.

Yeah, the base defense is pretty irrelevant. In terms of quality of play, he would've been worth keeping even if he never plays a single first or second down.
