Hopefully Tarell Brown Is Next

If his foot is okay, I agree. But man, those foot injuries are brutal.

I agree with the first two posts, they need a corner and foot injuries are a *****. If his foot checks out sign Brown but use at least one of the first four picks on a corner. I think we will see them double dip at both CB and RB where they use a top 100 pick on both a RB and a CB and then revisit both positions with their late picks.

We need a corner.

Its a need but I don't think its a critical one.

Brown was starting ahead of Ryan before he went down. With that said I thought Ryan was more than serviceable last year.

We need to see about Roberts.

Biggers and Melvin are 50/50 to make the team.

If they pick up a quality player in the draft I won't complain.

Shocking that you are advocating the return of a CB that has had his last 3 seasons ended due to injury....

As for needing a CB. Be more a little more specific. Need a CB for depth or need a CB to be the #2 CB? If it's depth, of course depth is good . If it is as a #2 CB then no. People can continue to whine about Logan Ryan but he's a solid #2. Ya he has some bad games but name me a #2 CB in the league that doesn't have bad games and i'll show you a CB that is a #1

I think Justin Coleman showed something as a rookie when he didn't have a broken hand and Roberts if he picks up were the reports had him in training camp last year he could be a solid contributor this season.

Butler, Ryan, Coleman, Roberts and Brown could be a pretty solid group.

He just stepped out of a walking boot a couple weeks ago so he has a long road ahead.

1) Did either Butler or Ryan extend their contracts when I wasn't looking. If not, we have Coleman and Roberts for 2017. We NEED a corner who is capable of starting in 2017, unless we are counting on re-signing both Butler and Ryan.

2) With regard to 2016, corners do seem to sometimes get injured.

3) and yes, Butler, Ryan, Coleman, Roberts and Brown COULD be a pretty solid group. Counting on a rookie coming back from IR seems risky, since such a player has never been a major contributor. Counting on the top 3 to repeat their excellent years seems to be a bit much to ask.

BOTTOM LINE
I'd like to see TWO additions: Brown plus someone else. If we have too many starting corners by the time the season starts, it will the first time in awhile.

Will take a valuable roster spot in the final 53 to then get IR'd during the first half of the season, then the options available will probably not be on the same level as some of the roster cuts. I think I'll pass.

That's being mighty generous in my opinion, although you may be right about Biggers as a bottom chart depth option. I don't see the odds being as good for Melvin.

This is what it comes down for me: what positions are they going to take shots on with all of those picks in the upcoming draft? One would have to think CB would be fairly high on the list with Ryan being in a contract year, along with the uncertainty of Roberts.

I would add Butler's contract status to the list of concerns.

Yes, good point. The only reason why I didn't is due to the fact that they can control things for at least 2016 and 2017.

In the bigger picture, Butler's situation should be taken into account--yes.

Do we really need to blow another Rd 1/2 pick on a DB? AGAIN?!?!

Eh, I wouldn't put much faith in Brown. He ends up on IR every year with foot injuries.

With that said, when it comes to drafting BB is due to hit on a draft pick at that position.

RB? Why do we want to burn an early pick on a RB? Corners are way more of a precious commodity than RB.

As far as foot injuries, Gillette's turf is not good for foot injuries.

If they like the player then yes. Drafting is always inexact and every team has hits and misses and while the Patriots draft better than pretty much everyone, especially when you factor in placement they have had misses at CB but that shouldn't stop them from drafting a really good prospect if they see one sitting there. Unlike most teams they don't have the luxury of picking in the top half of the draft on a regular basis so getting the "can't miss" prospects isn't an option for them so they have to make the most of what they do have available to them and that generally means best player available. I don't NB think they should reach for one but all things being equal CB is definitely a priority.
