Damn

That's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Thanks.

The Spurs are essentially playing a younger version of themselves. I can see them taking one, maybe two, games from the Warriors if the games are officiated fairly. Outside of that, it's Golden State's series to lose.
Yeah pretty much. Best part about the Dubs is they can play big and small. They're at their best with Green at center but, they can easily go big with Bogut in. Spurs are pretty much stuck playing big. Parker and Danny Green have regressed a lot. Best case, they try not to play Duncan at all and start Aldridge and Diaw.

It will take a while to get back mentally. Did you guys see him having to hand over the jacket? First he stumbled over the chair and the look on his face was...yeah. Feel bad for him. He had it and boom..it's gone

I don't think it will. Spieth seems like a pretty tough guy, mentally. I would bet that he's right back in the thick of it next year.

Oh i agree next year..i just mean for the rest of this year i can see him being in a funk from this

The guy led the first 3 rounds of the Masters, would've won it if you could take away one hole, and is the #2 ranked golfer in the world. This weekend was his 5th consecutive tournament in the top 20.

What planet are you living on where that is considered "less than impressive"?
Of the 57 players that made the cut, Spieth was 32nd in greens in regulation (59%)….aka….less than impressive.
Of the 57 players that made the cut, Spieth was 31st in driving accuracy (67%)…aka…less than impressive.
Spieth was #2 in putting

So…like I said, Spieth was wildly inconsistent off the tee and with his irons but he was a scrambling machine all weekend but stayed in the hunt thanks to the only facet of his game that was consistent…his putting. And if you watched Spieth for the past few months after he ran away from the field in Hawaii, he has been pedestrian…vs his standards set last year and verses other golfers this year.
His game is flawed right now and IMO it was only because of his high golf IQ that kept in the competition……never seen a golfer grind more than this guy…never giving in despite the bad positions he kept putting himself.
Personally, I love the guy and he is the only reason I started watching golf again last year after years of Tiger Overload Syndrome (similar to Lebron Overload)….and I want this kid to be the next great thing……but his tee to green game has slipped all year. Put him on a course right now with some rough and he'll have big problems.

When great players don't have it going, they grind. Jack, Tiger, Arnie, Watson, etc. all needed to grind.

He'll struggle at Oakmont. No question but he knows how to grind.

With that said everyone will struggle there.

You can always spot a weak argument the more someone has to parse their stats. That's like saying the Patriots are 30th in rushing yardage, so they just aren't that impressive of a team.

He finished 2nd out of something like 90 at the freakin' Masters, and led after each of the 1st 3 rounds. He must've been doing something right.

He was..but like he posted..there was writing on the wall. Even the announcers were saying, he wasn't playing great up until that point..it was just everyone around him was ****ting the bed as well.

Before 12 he had bogey bogey. So he was on a bit of a dive before that hole

And before that he had 4 consecutive birds.

You can cherry pick stats all night long and nothing you say will change the fact he came in 2nd (t).

Yep…he scrambled better than any player I've ever seen….but that game only can get you so far….about 64 holes.
Spieth was feast or famine for the final three days. For the tournament, Spieth had 14 bogeys or worse….and worse was three doubles and a quadruple…..that's +20 on his bad holes. Look at Willet….8 bogeys in 4 days….none worse than +1.
By my count, Spieth had 22 birdies to Willet's 13. One guy was controlled , one guys was hit or miss…which I termed less than impressive. His scrambling was impressive, but on this type of course in those conditions, bad ball striking gets you severely punished. Second place was amazing considering how poorly he was hitting his irons….+20 says it all. And Spieth didn't blow up on just one hole, he blew up on 4…..Willet…none….that's the difference.
Mentally, there's no tougher player on the tour than Spieth…..but his irons doomed him this weekend…not just on that par 3. Spieth was timid going at the par 5's in two because he had no confidence in his iron's and when he was forced to go at #13 in two….he flew the green. He was compensating the last 54 holes…….and eventually was exposed by the course. Willet wasn't.
Wind has become Spieth nemesis. Remember the British open when they sent him out in the gale force winds for 2 holes ….and those lost strokes likely prevented him from winning that Open. I feel for the kid.
I'm guessing he will be working on his irons from dawn to dusk up until the next major and despite his disappointment, he has to secretly feel good he beat out the other big guns.
Anyone else notice….unlike last year when Spieth engaged with his playing partners no matter the person, no matter the event….this tournament, the camera never showed any interaction for four days. The kid put a lot of pressure on himself….tough conditions and a chance at building history…and poor iron play will do that.

What's the appeal of watching Golf? What does it do for a person?

I am huge golf fan, but really miss Tiger and Phil and their crazy shots around trees and any number of impossible shots...

This crew of characters is good, but TV golf now tends to be a tad mundane and does not hold my interest.. I switched the channel on the 9th hole on Sunday as I found it boring.. all of the front runners in this day and age all seem to be "mechanical".....

One drive was over 350 yards(hole 3), how can any golfer drive a 350 yard par 4 over the green???

I do and I don't.

In his prime he is easily in the Top 5 of GoATs.

I remember following him around during the practice round at The CC during the Ryder Cup and in Norton a few years later. When he had his game and was "on", watching him was electric.

The problem is that as a person he is just one surly dude. Rude as well.

I couldn't care less if he was hitting porn stars. Good for him.

Spieth speaks…..and says EXACTLY what I wrote…

“But, listen, I had my B-minus game tee to green, and I made up for it around the greens with my putter. Ultimately you just have to have your A-game every single part, and I just didn’t have those iron swings, as it showed on the back nine.”

Regarding your poor analogy using the Pats running game...…a much more appropriate analogy would have been to use the Patriots offensive line and their horrible play in the AFCC that directly lead to New England's second place in that game….a place that you apparently put a lot of value on. Do you think Belichick values second place? We know Kraft does .
The Pats lack of a running game is a choice…a choice that has existed in the Brady Superstar era when the game plan is to pitch it 55 times a game…sometimes 18 plays in a row. Offensive line play is a necessity …not a choice...…just like hitting greens in regulation is a necessity. In both sports, success is rare without consistency in these areas. And just like the NFL……second places become irrelevant in golf (exempt to the accountant) and even mocked. See Buffalo…0-4 in SuperBowls…see Peyton Manning……..his playoff losses bring ecstasy on this board….see Colin Montgomerie…see Jean Van deVeldt.
Another football analogy….Spieth performed like a high octane offense capable of putting up 38 points a game but loses the biggest game 41-38…Feast or famine.
And finally, golf history is littered with leaders of tournaments who crash on Sunday. And history remembers the crash, not the…"He must've been doing something right"

I don't think Belichick values 2nd place nor do I think Spieth values 2nd place. But it's stupid for fans to say the Patriots had an unimpressive season last year because of doing poorly in (insert stat here) just like it's stupid to say Spieth had an unimpressive Master's because he did poorly in (insert stat here).

Plus Jordan walked away with a check for $1.08m for finishing 2nd.

Its more than just the money but when you walk away with that kind of cake in your wallet you tend to feel a little better.

Losing a championship game has no such consolation of that financial magnitude.
