There is a clear pattern this season of penalties being called against the Patriots on big, game-changing plays, and penalties not being called on game-changing plays against the opposition. Anyone who can't see this is simply in denial, or doesn't know anything about football. There's no other explanation for the unconscionable OPI against Martin yesterday, and then defensive interference not being called as Gronkowski is mugged well past five yards from the line of scrimmage. Not to mention no penalty called on Suh for hitting Brady below the knees - it is after all a penalty now, and was egregious, and he should have been ejected, and it wasn't called at all. Just as the facemask on Brady as he lunged to recover his fumble was not called, just as holding wasn't called on the Dolphins but was on the Patriots, etc.
I think the Patriots should sue the league for collusion. There is video of every play. It would be pretty preposterous for the league to try to explain how Martin barely touching the defender was interference, but the defender grabbing Gronkowski's arms wasn't, or how Suh didn't really hit Brady below the knees though it appeared he did, or that no official happened to see Brady's facemask being grabbed as he was reaching for the ball though he's the quarterback, etc. The Denver game alone would make for some pretty interesting dancing on the part of the league in trying to explain blatantly obvious one-sided application of the rules; coupled with the other games the Patriots supposedly have lost this season, I think it would be a long day in court for the hallowed NFL.
I'm not saying the Patriots have not played, or coached, poorly at times; it astounds me how consistently poorly the secondary has played, for example. But the level of players in the NFL is such that if one team is allowed to play by a different set of rules than the other, it's all but impossible for the team being officiated against to win. There is a lot of money being made by the league every time the Patriots play, and an enormous amount of money being made in total every week including all of the games. A lot of people watch this sport; it's not acceptable for games to be fixed because the person charged with ensuring the integrity of the league is a puerile jackass who has decided to get his revenge for a lost court case via his refs.
