Jests Name Mo Lewis as Honorary Captain on Sunday

And I thought Rex was gone. I am surprised Rex did not think of it first. People are saying they are unsure what this is supposed to connote, but I think this was cooked up in the bowels of someone with a very sinister intentions.

If the jests really wanted to troll the Patriots, they should've had Kensil be their honorary captain

I'm sure he would've loved to have done it

One of the things that continues to surprise me, despite advancing years, is the remarkable ability of stupid and desperate people to be tone deaf and cheap.

Symbolism is important to us humans, because it represents and expresses deep and subtle things that are never adequately described in language. An hour ago my wife was weeping by my side as we talked about the possible interment of her just-deceased father at Arlington Cemetery. There's no language to express what this means to her, of its significance.

But desperate and shallow people lose a connection to this, and misuse symbolism to fight vacant and mediocre battles, with superficial, cheap gestures.

Enter the Jets. They do stuff like this. The world is a lesser place because of it, and they don't have a clue.

I know. Way overboard. But whatever.

Merry Merry, Happy Happy to all, with a reminder to not let the desperate and lost distract us from what's truly important.

Considering that most fans associate Mo Lewis with the start of the Brady era, I'm not sure how effective of a troll that is, no matter how sympathetic we are to Bledsoe.

Well we could name him our team captain too, he did much more for us than he did for them. (No offense and all due respect to Drew)

We love Mo Lewis! The hit that started a dynasty.

Brady eventually would've supplanted Bledsoe, it was just a matter of time. Mo Lewis's hit just accelerated the process.

For all we know, to be honest we have no idea what would have happened for sure.

Mo Lewis deserves a spot in the Hall at Patriot Place. Maybe they'll hand him an invite at midfield.

If you think Brady owes his career to Mo Lewis you need to go back and get reacquainted with Brady's training camp and preseason game performances that season, plus BB's comments about his work vs. Bledsoe's.

I'm with Tune and consider Mo a guy that sped up a process....

I don't put much stock in luck nor a big believer in getting chances, those are created imo more times than not. Brady went from 7th on the depth chart to number 1 in college, he outplayed a phenom his senior year and won the job again hands down then he played lights out in his bowl game. He went from 4th to the clear number 2 on the pats depth chart with a good fight for number 1, when the time came he was prepared and did his thing and again played lights out in big games.

It's an obvious pattern, he was going to make his name in this game regardless. BB was going to be a great coach and TB was always going to be a great QB and so it is. At least that's how I see it.

I agree it's still odd making him captain because of what he represents to a lot of people.

If this is their attempt at trolling then they need some real help in the trolling department.
They probably should try the GangGrene forum for lots of expert help.....

That's not what I'm saying at all. You just don't know what would have happened for sure is all I'm saying. Maybe he would have, maybe it would've hit some different bumps.

I'm just saying no one knows for certain how things would have worked out.

Well, you're right -- perhaps an asteroid would've hit Foxboro and wiped everyone out. Short of that, I'm pretty certain minus Lewis's intervention Brady would've eventually replaced Bledsoe. It wasn't just a chance situation. BB is on record saying Brady outplayed Drew in training camp and in preseason games that year.

And in doing so probably played a pivotal role in the Pats winning their first Lombardi.

I think of it like a track race where 1 person is the fastest runner by a long shot. Behind the scenes BB sees a kid that brings it 150% to practice every single day, a guy that's there first and leaving last, a guy that has his face in the playbook non stop, a guy that's super easy to coach, a guy that never quits, super positive, the most fiery competitor on the field, a perfectionist of the highest order and most importantly a guy that outplayed all the QB competition including his number 1. You just don't let someone like that walk away without allowing him to have a chance at some point, because if you don't someone else will.

Unless he had some career ending in jury early on(and you can play that game with any player) he was only going to succeed in my opinion.

Desperate moves by a desperate team... trying to rack my brain as to why Todd would think this would inspire his team???

Has Fireman Ed bought seasons tickets again?? Or he still waging his war on the Jets??
