Report: JJ Watt did not practice Thursday and has a cast on his left hand

I expect him to play Sunday night but I wonder what that does to his ability to get around blocks....

Update: he says he broke his hand in practice yesterday. Hmmm.....

Although I don't like to leave things in the abstract, it really does depend on the break. Of course, it will probably be wrapped. Perhaps, the question should be whether a wrapped hand will affect his performance? Personally, I've done several things (e.g. sports, work, and play guitar) with a broken hand. However, it won't heal right (and quickly) if one is not laying off it. And in a football setting, methinks he's in line to make it worse. Where will that go? Hypothetically, we could see him both plays that he ordinarily would have made. We'll see...

JJ Watt is listed as Probable with Hand/Groin. I'm not sure if that means he'll play football on Sunday night or that he'll watch the game from his leather couch and cue up Victoria's Secret on his DVR.

He is a great player but his fake, public persona is kinda annoying. And I am not surprised that some people are not buying a broken hand that conveniently doesn't hinder him that much and happens right before a Sunday Night Game.

Does Gronk fake public persona of being a dumb, jock meat head, with his brothers (and father) of JAG football players clinging to his nut sack and mooching off him annoy you? Cuz at times it annoys me, and BTW I love Gronk.

All these guys have egos. Let's not make it seem like our superstars are any different.

I love me some Gronk but the thing is he was a goofball in college and he is a fun loving goofball now in public and in the media. It comes off as genuinely who he is. I watched a lot of JJ Watt tape cuz I was praying he would last til 17 I wanted him badly. One of the few times I cussed at the tv (violently and loudly) over another teams pick. Not that I thought he would be the best defensive player in the league I just liked what I saw and he seemed like a great character fit. Then the first couple seasons the stuff you saw in the media was the charity work he did for kids, like that one who ended up in a wheel chair and JJ spent a crazy amount of time with and upgraded his house becoming friends with him. That is the Watt that I think is "real" and it says a lot about him. Then he got his monster contract and became a face of the league level player. Ever since then you get the stupid self promoting non sense and I believe the fame and fortune has gone to his head. Sad to see and I still root for him (when he is not playing the pats, would love nothing more then for his stats to be 0 0 0 0 sunday) but the admiration I had for him has Definetly been tarnished some because it does not feel genuine. I can deal with ****y fun loving guys like gronk if that's who they really are. I have a harder time buying it when it feels phoney

Do you really think Gronk comes off as dumb or a meat head? I guess see it completely different. I think he is a goofball and and has a wonderful way of getting excited like a big kid (if he ever becomes a TV announcer, I think he could become the next John Madden, he has that same goofy excitable personality). Being an excitable goofball is his "brand", how many NFL players have such a recognizable brand? I bet he will eventually make a mint out of endorsements. However, he picked up the offense in no time, and I would argue that being an excitable goofball is not the same as being dumb or a meat head.

Let me throw out an example, it is a quote from a book on the great Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman, generally regarded as one of the 10 most brilliant physicists of all time: "The mere mention of the name Richard Feynman causes any physicist’s eyes to brighten. Who does that part in bold remind you of? I am not saying Gronk is one of the greatest thinkers of the 21st century, but IMHO I think perhaps he is anything but dumb, that is just his brand.
